Plenty of "FUEL" on board.

I wonder if a full tank will get more expensive now we converted her to run on strong black coffee.

But it makes the pilot (and plane) stay awake, so it's worth it.

As an added bonus I can now easily refuel at the nearest house in case a forced off airport landing!

"excuse me ma'm, do you have some coffee we can borrow" "We need to get to new York".:D

Actually a BIG barrel of oil is only 28 dollars now. Verdi size (large size) cup of Starbucks is 5 bucks. Do your math and see how many verdi size cups of Starbucks coffee can fill up a big same size barrel that is used for oil!!

il88pp, I bet if you switch to McDonald's black coffee you could get more coffee for your buck then Starbuck's. I once heard that by an expert McDonald's coffee taste better then Starbuck's does, therefore you could get more for your money. Just a thought especially if you are planning a long trip, make sure you have available bathroom. Kenny

Thanks guys.:)

Maybe I'll try a local truck-stop, order a cuppa and ask for a "free refill".:)

The shaking can't be helped. But I almost never switch off the seatbelt light anyway, so they'll be fine back there.

And if passengers worry about it I'll just explain it's a small price to pay for saving the planet. :D:D:D

Or blame turbulance. Travelers are getting more respectuful of turb, now that some have been injured getting up and wandering about during it. Bounce one or two off the ceiling a few times, and listen to the belts clicking shut!

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

Just in case someone wants to do this for themselves, it is a very simple gauge change.

This is for the default b737-800 eicas.

inside b737-800.cab

file: eicas.xml

find line:

FUEL %((P:Units of measure, enum) 2 !=)%{if}LBS%{else}KG%{end}

and change the word FUEL

to your favourite beverage.

(stick to short words. "PEACE_OF_STRAWBERRY_CHEESCAKE" would probably not work out well.)
