Dragonpilot
How does one set an NDB frequency on the FSX G1000? I get the setting procedures for NAV1 and NAV2, but the ADF button on the radio panel doesn't come alive when I wave the cursor over it.
mrzippy
Let your fingers do the walking through the Google Pages! Q: How to change ADF frequency? A: As it is in the real device, G1000 does not include an ADF control panel, neither does this simulator. ADF frequency changing is done in the settings window in the PFD app. You can find it in the "Simulation" section. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! Dragonpilot
1. So...if I understand this correctly, without an ADF control panel, one cannot perform an NDB approach using the G1000 either in real life or in FSX? 2. You mention a "simulation" section...is that to be found somewhere in FltSim.com? New to the forum, so I'm stumbling around a bit. Thanks.

You may find more info on the G1000 in the FSX Learning Center or by Google searching Garmin G1000 operation. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! avallillo
Most real G-1000's do not have an ADF at all - it really is not necessary these days unless you want to listen to your favorite AM radio station! Most if not all NDB approaches now have GPS overlays so that they can be legally flown using the GPS. THe approach plate will say something like NDB/GPS. The Learning Center in your sim is the first place for Knowledge. No, you cannot fly an NDB Approach using the G1000. You can however, use the NDB name as a waypoint indicator by the simple expedient of programming it into the G1000.
TseTse
You might find this Pilot's Handbook from Garmin a bit helpful, although FSX simulates only around 20% of the full functionality of the system. http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/190-00498-07_0A_Web.pdf http://i.imgur.com/iMDlMAv.jpg TseTse i5-9600K @ 3.7~4.5GHz | RTX2060 Super 8GB | 32GB DDR4-3200 | 1TB Samsung 840EVO | Z390 Chipset | Windows 10 x64
Dragonpilot
Thanks for the handbook...very helpful. I've been searching for DME functionality in C-172 and Baron FSX G1000 cockpits, and the handbook references a DME window just to the right of the HSI in the PFD...but no such window seems to exist in FSX. I've searched the forum and Google to no avail. It exists in the real world but seems to be missing in FSX. Also double checked that I am, in fact, tuned to a VOR with DME.
