ortho
Have the Bahrain scenery in FS9 and installed the scenery in FSX, but I now have a missing building front in FSX. Behind the red English and Arabic letters ( Bahrain Airport ) I do not have the building texture. When I get nearer it is like looking through glass, I also see the green grass which would normally be hidden by the building. When I slew to the sides and back these show up, also apart from some black vehicles behind the airport I rest of the scenery seems to be in order. Something seems to be excluding this small section. Downloaded the files as on the download section, I only have the E_Z libraries installed and not the Jordan airports as I do not need these. What I find strange is that Bahrain VATBAH_OBBI has an apart texture file where the Jordan airports do not. Any suggestions. mrzippy
Sorry, I just replied to your AVSIM post. Are you using this file from our Library? FS2004 (ACOF) - FS2004 Scenery FS2004/FSX Scenery--Bahrain International Airport [ Download | View ] Name: vatbah_obbi_fs9_fsx.zip Size: 28,108,302 Date: 02-14-2010 Downloads: 8,694 FS2004/FSX Scenery--Bahrain International Airport (OBBI). This scenery is an upgrade of Mohammad Al-Bassam's Bahrain v3 scenery. This all in one package updates the AFCAD and airport layout to correct the number of gates, parking positions, and overall look and feel of the facility so that it comports with real world charts and data. Information was the result of dilligent research from the VATSIM Bahraini FIR. This requires the VATJO Scenery Package (FS2004: VATJO-FULL-JO-SCEN-FS9.ZIP) (FSX: VATJO-FULL-JO-SCEN-FSX.ZIP) and the VATJO Scenery Package Update (FS2004/FSX VATJO-FULL-JO-SCEN-FS9-FSX-U1.ZIP). Everything else that is needed is included here. Upgrade and package by Mahmoud A. Fadli. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! Rupert
OK, I just went to OBBI and the default scenery is pretty sparse for that whole area. So do I understand correctly I need to download VATJO and VATJO Update both. Or does the Update package have it all? Yes I know, I'm a little dense this morning! StringBean
This is the image in FSX... Great, can you tell us exactly which combination of addons you are using? Are you using the FS9 version in X? Do you have either of the updates installed? Tell us what you have so we can help you, otherwise we can only guess. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? StringBean
As mentioned I have the FS9 version which is all right, and in FSX the three downloads as MrZippy mentions in his reply. OK, it is still not clear what you are using and until you tell us... In FSX, are you using the FS9 or the FSX base pac? Have you applied both updates? WWOD---What Would Opa Do? StringBean
OK, I see now. I thought the latest package (OBBI) was an upgrade to the first two, when in fact it is for a completely different airport. My bad. This package is not fully FSX compatible, despite it being advertised as such. It probably works if you do not have SP2 or Acceleration installed. The problem is not that the building behind the sign is missing, it is that the sign transparency is not FSX material. This is similar to the prop issue when using FS9 planes in FSX. I think I fixed it... What I did was to import BahrainV3.BGL into Model Converter X, then "Export Scenery" as an "FSX BGL file (*.bgl)" and overwrite the original. This should set the materials to FSX materials as opposed to the original FS9 materials. If you need it, you can get MCX here- http://www.scenerydesign.org/development-releases/ peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? Farewell, my freind (sp) Never argue with idiots. ortho
Thanks for the infi Downloaded the Programme. The 3D image shows this issue however at the end of converting I get an error message BGLX Writer that the decimal character on my machine is not set to dot. This is required for Xto MDL to run. Have no idea what this means. I prefer not want to make any general changes which may affect other things just to get this one file changed. ortho
I found out how to change the comma for a dot and the bgl file increased from 410 kb to 415 kb. However now the complete (left) terminal had disappeared, I have only the jetways showing. The other terminal buildings (cargo etc) on the right hand side of the airport is still showing. The Model ConverterX only shows the terminal on the left, after conversion the image is the same. Please see image. In the VATBAH_OBBI I also have a MDL file 410kb same as the original v3 and an XML amongst other files. None of these files have apparently been altered, i.e. new Bahrain 415kb & MDL 410kb. Is this normal, also the original Afcad file is still AF2_OBBI.
Rupert
:confused: WOW!! I'm truly confused. Mr. Bean or Mr Zippy, could one of you be so kind as to list the downloads to make FSX work correctly in a single list? I only have the default OBBI now and would like to bring in more scenery. But with all the back and forth about what download works with which program I can't figure out what I need to improve the scenery on top of the default FSX? Please and Thank You! StringBean
could one of you be so kind as to list the downloads to make FSX work correctly in a single list? Asked and answered... That should be... VATJO-FULL-JO-SCEN-FS9.ZIP ...or... VATJO-FULL-JO-SCEN-FSX.ZIP ...then... FS2004/FSX VATJO-FULL-JO-SCEN-FS9-FSX-U1.ZIP ...then... vatbah_obbi_fs9_fsx.zip WWOD---What Would Opa Do? StringBean
I found out how to change the comma for a dot and the bgl file increased from 410 kb to 415 kb. That happened for me also and it is expected as the increase is due to the extra data for the FSX materials. They would require more file space. However now the complete (left) terminal had disappeared, I have only the jetways showing. The other terminal buildings (cargo etc) on the right hand side of the airport is still showing. The Model ConverterX only shows the terminal on the left, after conversion the image is the same. Please see image. Not sure what to think of this as it worked for me... The only part of this airport in this file is what you see in the MCX Window. If there has been a change elsewhere then you have done something other than what I suggested. In the VATBAH_OBBI I also have a MDL file 410kb same as the original v3 and an XML amongst other files. None of these files have apparently been altered, i.e. new Bahrain 415kb & MDL 410kb. The .mdl and .XML file are not used by FS, nor would they be affected by you working with the .BGL file. The .mdl and .XML files are used to create the .BGL file, they serve no purpose in the sim. ...also the original Afcad file is still AF2_OBBI. That is fine, we do not need to do anything to that file. The only suggestion I can make is that if converting the .BGL file did not work the first time, try it again. Start with a fresh copy of the file, not the one you already converted. Read my instruction carefully and follow them exactly. Post back if you have any questions. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? Farewell, my freind (sp) Never argue with idiots. ortho
Thanks again for your patience in trying to solve the issue, much appreciated. Still no difference with a clean bgl, the buildings are still missing, see image of list download files in FSX. When I check the new file again in the converter the image is the same as before the conversion. Maybe there will be a new pay/free OBBI in the near future. Rupert
Asked and answered... Thanks Sir! Downloaded & it works. Still not right so I'll have to do some adjusting. My Bad, I'm not that good at anything that doesn't just work. Packers are ahead again so I'll go and watch the end of the game. I can't stand to watch close Packer games unless I'm there live! And I haven't been to Maryland for at least a year. Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
ortho
Downloaded everything again from the FlightSim file library for FSX but the same issue appears. A change of the bgl file (name changes from BahrainV3 to Bahrain300) with Model Converter causes the airport to be excluded leaving only the Jetways showing. Bahrain300 change to original name does not alter the situation. Also installed all the Jordanian airports but the result is the same. In the "vatjo-full-jo-scen-fsx" download it seem that I only need the E-Z textures and not the rest. Rupert, you mentioned an issue, have you the same problem as me.
