svpst
I have discovered that there are some new patches for this mesh scenery. 5 as a matter of facr and i did know bout the first 3 but my query is thing Can the scenery from all five patches be placed in one scenery file, under a file called FMX patches, and be uploaded to the scenery library or do the have to be done separately? Thanks for your feedback and I hope 2016 is a great year for all of us. Happy New Year and GO GREEN! Brian W. JSkorna
The FMX web site does a good job directing what to do with the patches. Basicly everything is in patch 5. For the patch download, there are 2 options: torrent and non-torrent. The non-torrent link worked well for me last night. If you update you are going to only have one Patches folder left. Everything else will end up in the continent folders that you have now. http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png
il88pp
Thanks for the info!! Read this avsim thread. The part in green at the top. It says that patch 1.05 replaces all the previous patches. Also the install is different. The download contains a fileset for each region. Use to paste into current region folders, overwrite. Also the download contains a folder patches. I think the idea is to keep your current patches folder but delete all files from it. Then paste the new files from folder 'patches' in patch 1.05 into it. Read closely. (I only just saw after you pointed the new patches out, did not have time to read closely yet. Thanks for pointing the new patch out.:) Downloading soon...) il http://www.avsim.com/topic/467933-freemesh-x-global-10-release-announcement/ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
il88pp
I wonder... We now install more files into the region folders. I tjink that means we can't use tose folders for seeding any more. I've decided to make a copy of the main folders. I will seeed from the unaltered copy. (And from the patch 1.05 folder. Also a duplicate.) I will add the files to my active Region folders only after making the copies. That way what I seed is the original filesets. a bit of a hassle, because the Total of the region folders is 47Gb. I have space for that... for now.. Anyway, copying the backups just completed. I'm seeding the main regions and downloading patch 1.05 now.:) il88pp [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
svpst
Yes, I sent my message before i got the 5 page, which simplifies everything. Should be pretty simple to follow now. Thanks for the feedback guys have have a Happy New Year. Hope things are well in Warren. Brian W. I5-8400, EVGA GTX 1070.ti, 16 gigs ram, 500g Samsung SSD, 1.5 T HDD, 1 T HDD, Win 10, 64bit. il88pp
I did't see it mentioned in the Avsim thread. But I think a Warning is a good Idea. -1- After updating the rgions in your install-- Do not seed from those folders. -2- If you do accidentally seed from a Updated Region folder, the torrent client will change it's contents back into a Original Region folder!! -3- If you want to seed the originals Regions, you must keep a separate copy of those original folders. -4- (And that takes a lot of space.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just installed the patch 1.05 It contains files to put in the Original Region folders. And files to put in the folder \Patches after removing all original files from the \Patches folder. So far so good. But then, seeding. I said earlier that it would not be possible to seed from the Active, now Updated, Region folders any more. As some original folders would have been replaced. I discovered that is indeed the case. I tried. (safely). ---------------------- In the folder \FMXBackup I have now: The Original regions, and the complete patch. For seeding. And in my active folder, called \FMX, I have all the Updated regions. And the updated folder \Patch. For playing fsx. ----------------------- I think I did the install correctly. I don't know enough about torrent clients to know how it all works. I'm thinking that if you seed from the Updated Region Folders, the updated files will first be overwritten with the originals from the torrent! After that's done, the client will start to seed. (Maybe I'm wrong. I'm not sure on that.) I thought I should mention, I use Tixati (portable -64b) to do torrents. Update: I just tried what I suggested. I made a folder: \FMX_TEST I copied the updated \Australia and Oceania folder in it. From ..\FMX -folder. A copy. I then downloaded the torrent link fresh (from avsim, post 1) Then loaded that torrent into Tixati. The uploading/seeding did not start like it normally does. Instead I recieved a "Filesize too small" warning. I had to "Force Check". After FOrce Checking, and then starting the torrent, it showed parts missing. It started downloading. I assume it is downloading files to my: \FMX_TEST folder, to make the updated \Australia and Oceania match the Original \Australia and Oceania again. Before starting. The updated FMX_TEST\Australia and Oceania with the update. Size: 3.14gb 3.372.243.992 Size On Disk: 3.14 3.372.380.160 62 files 1 folder The same FMX_TEST\Australia and Oceania after using it to torrent from (or torrent to and from really.). Size: 3.18gb 3.419.976.361 Size On Disk: 3.18 gb 3.420.110.383 62 files 1 folder So, It became larger. -------------------------------- I also looked at the \FMXBackup\Australia and Oceania folder. With the original Region. This was exactly the same size as the FMX_TEST\Australia and Oceania -folder after torrenting. So, torrenting from the altered folders changes them back to the originals That means a Warning is a good Idea. -4- (And that takes a lot of space.) With the previous way of patching, files from a patch all went into the Patches folder. The Regions remained unchanged, and could be used for Seeding. Now the contents of the Region folders changes, and that changes things. Hope this helps you. Thanks for the update AviatorMoser. I have not had time to test much, but it looked better, crisper. FMX looks great in flight. il88pp. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
