hoganwings
Hello, I have FSX Steam Edition and recently the game has been crashing. About 30 minutes into a flight, the game freezes, then crashes. I have tried to troubleshoot the issue but cannot figure out why. I also have a HDMI cable attached to a Sharp TV monitor. I am wondering of that has something to do with it. Any help would be great. Thanks, Kevin
mrzippy
Let's see what's causing the crash! Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Event Viewer, select Custom Views-> Administrative Events. One of the listed events will be for your CTD. The "Faulting Module" should point to the problem area. Tell us what the Faulting Module is! That will point us in the direction of the proper error, aiding in troubleshooting. Below is just an example of what you will see! General Tab: Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb14 Faulting module name: This is what we need to Know! Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x0000ee3a Faulting process id: 0x748 Faulting application start time: 0x01ce0253dc4b69d4 Faulting application path: R:\FSX\fsx.exe Faulting module path: R:\FSX\window.dll Report Id: 9caf77b4-6e50-11e2-8570-3085a99825d1 If there is not one listed: Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000, you will need to do as previously noted No Faulting Module? -> Remove all of the add-ons, and test the sim. If it works OK, then reinstall them one at a time and test. Be sure to test each thoroughly before moving on to the next Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! I also feel uncomfortable deleting all my AI traffic addons What made you think you have to delete AI traffic? If you suspect that AI traffic is causing the crash, try moving your AI Traffic sliders to zero and try a flight. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! Rupert
What made you think you have to delete AI traffic? If you suspect that AI traffic is causing the crash, try moving your AI Traffic sliders to zero and try a flight. +1. If the game still crashes you might want to back off on your other sliders (scenery, road traffic, etc.) Does it still crash? If so you really need to check for faulting mode. If not, advance the sliders a little at a time. At some point you'll probably experience a crash. Now you can prioritize which sliders are most important to you and start backing off the others till you are satisfied and the plane flies. When I had a lower level computer I'd prioritize my sliders based on what/where I was flying. For example: Low and slow, scenery was more important than weather or airplane traffic so I'd back those sliders off. High altitudes traffic and weather were pretty important so I'd back off airport traffic, highway and water traffic, etc. If you can't see detail at 30,000', why make the computer work to create it? If you're flying up a ravine, why worry about a bunch of other planes up high? Doesn't that make sense? Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow. napamule2
So it's not your monitor or HDMI cable, or your sliders. It's your processor (CPU), your video card (GPU), your memory (RAM), your power supply (PSU) and/or your Motherboard that is your problem(s). Sorry, but that is how it goes. Chuck B i7 2600K @ 3.4 Ghz (Turbo-Boost to 3.877 Ghz), Asus P8H67 Pro, Super Talent 8 Gb DDR3/1333 Dual Channel, XFX Radeon R7-360B 2Gb DDR5, Corsair 650 W PSU, Dell 23 in (2048x1152), Windows7 Pro 64 bit, MS Sidewinder Precision 2 Joy, Logitech K-360 wireless KB & Mouse, Targus PAUK10U USB Keypad for Throttle (F1 to F4)/Spoiler/Tailhook/Wing Fold/Pitch Trim/Parking Brake/Snap to 2D Panel/View Change.
