old_wombat
Well, thanx to emfrat, I now have VOZ 1.8 installed (running a 600MB+ installer was pretty scary !) and I "think" it has worked. There is now a Murwillumbah township (which looks like a small American city and nothing like the real Mur'bah, and horrible landscape tiles, but from the movie "Airplane", "That's not important now"), and a Whittle field. But that doesn't matter. Problem is, the switcher does not work. When I try, I get the window below and "nothing else happens". What problem does this indicate? How difficult is it to fix? Does it indicate a registry problem? If a registry problem, can I leave it alone, as there don't "seem to be any other problems" with my installation? My attitude to registry problems is "if they aren't hideously broken, don't fix them". If I can't VOZ switch, what will that prevent me from doing? In the sense that I am happy where the "switch" has put me now. I don't fly much in the USA or Europe anyway, will that impact me from doing anything there? Steve from Murwilllumbah. copperpen
I have not installed the VOZ package yet, but from what I have read in the manual the VOZ switcher changes texture sets to match the part of Oz you are flying in. Have you added the VOZ scenery folders to your addon scenery?.
gwillmot
"@Jim Robertson: Thanx for that mate. As you know, I am extremely lazy, so will look at the VOZ stuff before trying to make my own." Why THERE'S your problem! You'll find VOZ a little difficult to "use" and it changes textures in other parts of the world too! old_wombat
I have already discovered that VOZ has basically vomited all over the planet (that must be what the 'V' stands for - Vomit OZ). But I have a cunning plan. I am going to move the Mur'bah files, one at a time, from the production system (where the full VOZ is installed) to development, where it is not. Coz that's all I want it for. I suspect that some help may be needed here. When I have done this, I will then deinstall VOZ from production. Then I will copy onto it only the Mur'bah files from development. This sort of fooling around suits an incredibly lazy guy like me :D I also have to ask you, not that it's any of my business at all, why an American such as yourself would know so much about VOZ in the first place? gwillmot
I also have to ask you, not that it's any of my business at all, why an American such as yourself would know so much about VOZ in the first place? Well, first .... I love FS2004 and scenery add-ons. I have them from throughout the world. It's the only way I have found I can travel on a retirement income. Second .... I installed VOZ soon after it was released years ago. I've always felt a drawing to Australia and even New Zealand (sorry). I think my criminal ancestors just got on the wrong boat and wound up on this continent. I also found out what you are now finding out .... but luckily I make full system backups regularly so I just uninstalled VOZ and reinserted the texture folders from FS2004. Brilliant! Eventually, I just determined to leave well enough alone and enjoy what I have already accumulated (that and my reduced retirement income .... and wife). Best of luck with your Winter heat and your FS2004 installation. Yankee G [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Skywatcher12
I've never had any issues with VOZ, it's great! I wouldn't rush to uninstall it too quickly, better to make sure it's properly installed before throwing it out. The scenery order needs to be correct and mesh also put to the top of the list. I've never seen the VOZ switcher issue you've come across Steve but may be related to an installation that isn't correct. Once working, the switcher gives you multiple texture sets for different parts of Australia and of course you can also apply any of the texture sets to other parts of the world. It becomes a texture replacement option that's very good, easy to switch and completely free. Make sure you read the manual if you wish to continue with it. I wouldn't be without out personally. old_wombat
"Yankee G", Mate, it's not that expensive. Just over a grand will get you a return to/from LAX or SFO or DFW to anywhere on the East Coast - Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns (although not all combinations are available). If you can cope with the 11-14 hour non stop flight in cattle class. [Which I have now done nearly a dozen times, starting with Pan Am Flight 86 on a Boeing 747-SP]. And once you're here, one George Washington will get you about Oz $1.40 (in very pretty coloured plastic monopoly money), so the per day cost of a vacation here are similar to or possibly even marginally less than at home. Food, gas, accomodation, tourist things costs are all comparable. Your biggest problem will be that we drive on the wrong side of the road. This is actually compensated by that we sit on the wrong side of the car, and one actually sort of cancels out the other. If you see what I mean. We have a few freeways, but no Interstate like you have. And we don't get your average of 35+ gun deaths per day. We don't get that many in a year. Or even five. But that's perhaps a topic for a wholly different web site. Steve from Murwilllumbah.

JSMR
Never had a problem with VOZ. Over multiple installations. VOZ is one of the best things to have happened to FS9. For freeware, its brilliant. https://fshub.io/airline/RUA/overview
jgf
VOZ does replace textures globally so you must remember to "unVOZ" before flying outside Australia, though all but the desert textures don't look bad elsewhere (Australian deserts are decidedly reddish). Also "unVOZ" before trying any new textures for any scenery, otherwise you'll end up with a mixture of VOZ, default, and new textures scattered among the folders. Another issue I've encountered, on two different systems, is that changing the default desktop font size will cause the click spots for the VOZ options on the loader to be misaligned (I had to click below and slightly to the right of the indicated spots). But if the loader is crashing I would first check for access and permissions, especially if you installed in any "Program Files" folder. (The main thing I did not like about VOZ is that it must be installed in the main FS folder, all my add-on scenery is on another drive entirely.) old_wombat
Yes, Dijvid, we have kangaroos, but alas not in downtown Sydney, as some advertisements used to suggest. We also have modern Chinese, Korean and Japanese cars - just like you do. Steve from Murwilllumbah.
