kiri
Hi: its the first time I have added a turbin plane to my FSX. I have doubts regarding the Condition Levers / Propeller levers and Power levers. Whats de objective of each of them. What do they modifie. How to manage them in different flight situations of the flight. (taxi. takeoff, climb, cruise etc.) Is there any specific tutorial on the matter? Many thanks for any help. kiri
mrzippy
A Condition Lever is a pilot actuated control which is located within the throttle quadrant of a turboprop engine equipped aircraft. It is utilised to control some functions of both the propeller and the engine. These functions vary from installation to installation. Functions of the condition lever can include any of the following: Fuel cut-off. Propeller feathering. Propeller un-feathering. Low idle/high idle selection. (This is probably the most common function) Propeller speed control. Power levers/Thrust levers control the amount of power to the props. Similar to throttle levers in a reciprocating engine. Propeller levers will control the pitch of the blade for full bite of the air or feathering. I hope this is a Real Air Turbine Duke and not semi-royalty wearing a turban. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
PhantomTweak
I hope this is a Real Air Turbine Duke and not semi-royalty wearing a turbin. Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to make a turban stay on a plane? Even sitting still, start one engine and it's off down the flight line. :D :D Pat☺ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again! Sgt, USMC, 10 years proud service, Inactive reserve now :D
evm
Hi: its the first time I have added a turbin plane to my FSX. They are mostly kept at low idle all the time. Don't push them all the way forward when starting the engine, it may overspeed. Propeller levers control the angle of attack and RPM of the propeller blades. Reduce this after takeoff from full to somewhere in the green arc on the RPM gauge or else your engine will blow. And you can feather the props with them in case you lose an engine. Power levers do what "throttles" always do - just a lot slower. It takes time for the turboprops to react to different settings of these levers. After all the many setup pages, the "Flying Guide" PDF gets into more detail about correct operations.
