CessnaFlyer
hey guys I finally was able to get a second monitor. it's a dell S2415H but the problem is it keeps going into power save mode. how do I shut that off? I just got the thing earlier today and can't keep it on. I hope to use it for plan-g and the rex weather radar. but if I can't keep it on it will not do me any good. is this second monitor over powering the graphics card and that's why it won't stay on? I have the NVidia gtx 650 giving up on flight simulation for good:D

CessnaFlyer
well I tried the new monitor on HDMI and that was when it kept shutting down. so I switched my monitors. I made the new one VGA and my Acer monitor HDMI and now I have them both up and running. I was told you never mess with the bios or the registry. but I have a good clean registry. but I won't mess with the bios. and I have 2 monitors on now. giving up on flight simulation for good:D
il88pp
So now it's up and working. Nice!:) And now it is connected via the vga cable. In the first post in that link it said something along the lines of "Once it's connected to the active connector, you can select with a button the monitor (or in a menu) that it should be connected via hdmi instead." So if you prefer to connect it via hdmi, find the knob/button/menu that switches that setting. Set it as yo want. Then afterwards swap the cables. If VGA already gives you the resolution you want, then there is no reason to swap. happy flights in the new year CessnaFlyer!:) il [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CessnaFlyer
yes that's the strange thing about it. it won't stay on with HDMI but works on VGA. and my other monitor is on HDMI and working just fine. sounds confusing I know but they are working now. and if I take and clone them I get the same thing on both monitors which I don't want. so the task bar and icon ect are on one and the other is blank with just a picture I have. because I can get plan-g on the blank one which is what I got it for. giving up on flight simulation for good:D
il88pp
Make sure the display is set to use hdmi input source. I think I found the manual. It says there that you set this in the monitors OSD menu. (On Screen Display). http://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/622602/dell-s2415h-monitor.html?page=48 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CessnaFlyer
well for the Acer monitor I did not have to change any thing except for the cables. it is now HDMI and the other monitor has been set to VGA on the OSD menu and they are working just fine that way. so I think I will leave it that way. cause I have been working on my space shuttle simulator for better then 2 hours now and both monitors are still on :D giving up on flight simulation for good:D
