mp3j3rk
I've installed BlueSky Scenery's modular scenery with no problems (currently have much of Washington enabled with no problems). I installed some of the LA areas and am having some weird graphics issues at KLAX. Interestingly, this airport is actually cut in half and part of it is provided by one area, while the rest is provided by an adjacent area. Anyways, the issue relates to the ground scenery in the immediate vicinity of KLAX. Upon loading any aircraft at KLAX, the ground is blue and has the FSX logo on it. This tells me that there are some textures missing and so DX10 preview replaces those textures with the blue FSX logo texture. I've tried disabling DX10 but then I get light blue, or black instead. Here is the weird part: when I go to top-down view and zoom out (to about 24.00x), the textures seem fine. When I am zoomed in farther than that, the affected area seems to grow from the center of KLAX outwards. It kind of looks like there is some object just below the surface that rises as I get closer and covers the actual scenery. I tried enabling the alert that shows missing textures (there are a TON). These textures are something like s4$3089--8086.agn. I'm at a loss as to what this could be. I also tried disabling the 0202 base scenery in the scenery library. This doesn't help much with the missing texture issue, and it removes the water from the ocean. When I disable my addon scenery, the regular scenery comes back and the issue is gone. I've tried re downloading and replacing the scenery (overwriting as well as deleting and re-adding). My thoughts are that there is an issue with the scenery, there is some conflicting scenery, or my whole install is messed up and I probably need to reinstall (i hope that's not the case). Any other thoughts?
mrzippy
I have BlueSky scenery covering most of California, especially SoCal surrounding the KLAX to KSAN areas. Did you lump it all into one folder and then added to your scenery library? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
mp3j3rk
I've actually tried both all in one folder, and adding a separate folder to the scenery library. Doesn't seem to make a difference. Normally I'd think this just means I had a bad download, but I've downloaded it on multiple computers and everything checks out... svpst
While you are discussing that issue are either of you combining areas into one big folder or keeping them separate smaller areas. I have most of Washington but all separate, considering making just one folder for whole state? any thoughts? No issues with the KLAX area, using DX10. Thanks. Brian W. I may make your head spin on this one, but I have every single download from BlueSky added to my AddonScenery/Scenery folder. These are all of the single .BGL files all smashed together. I never did separate them, so if I have a problem, I may be SOL! Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
svpst
Have to smile at spinning my head, right back to you. I don't use Addon scenery at all. All my scenery is stored on my F: drive (HDD) and FSX_SE is on my C drive. I download everything to F and add it in the game thru the scenery library. No files in addon scenery or addon scenery/scenery. So i have added each of the blue sky folders, such as LAS_North5West4 using the add area. u thing you are saying you have all of the .bgl's in one scenery folder for all of Blue Sky. Is that right? mrzippy
All BlueSky scenery .BGLs is one folder, Yep! This screenshot shows only about 1/10 of the entire folder. I wasn't exactly the brightest light bulb when I first started downloading and installing addon scenery! Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! svpst
Has it created any issues for you? I'm thinking of putting all of the files from each state in one folder. I use Scenery Config Editor to keep things sorted out. By using that, you can group all your scenery from one state and turn them all on or all off as a group or you can do it individually? If its not created any problems for you I don't think I'd worry about it. But I too am not the sharpest knife in the drawer so there may be their ideas that work better. Thanks for your feedback. mrzippy
Knock on wood, no problems so far! Each time I downloaded an area, I just opened the folder, copied all of the .bgl files and pasted them in. When I started the Sim, it built all of the scenery and carried on from there. vry
I have Blue Sky scenery of the Channel Islands California. It will not (or is very difficult to) install. Sadly I deleted it, but my problems were only beginning. It would not delete, and it has multiple entries everywhere, including the registry. I used an Advanced delete engine, but it reported many files. Too scary. I left it alone. Keith
