CaptainTower Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Is there a way to enter 2 or more file names at the same time in the File Name: field of Flightsim.com search? I thought you could do that by separating the file names with a comma or something... CaptainTower Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 Semicolon? No; I tried that, too. Maybe I was just imagining things... napamule2 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 If you enter 10 words ('names') seperated by a space it will return ALL FILES that contain ANY of those words in description, so look out for large number of files to sift thru. The best way is to use Advanced Search which will allow multiple words to 'include' (ie:tags) and you can also choose what words NOT to 'include' in search (such as 'Wilson' or 'Lucarinny', etc). Chuck B Actually, I was talking about file names. Like, filename1.zip, filename2.zip, filename3.zip, etc. I thought, if I knew the filenames, and put them all in the search window, it would pull up all 3 of those examples together in one place for downloading. It works fine for 1 filename, I just thought there might be a quicker way to download multiple files. Thanks for responding... Jim Robinson Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 If you can find a commonality in the filenames you're searching for you can use * as a wildcard, ie. *38m.zip will find a number of FSGenesis mesh files for FS2002 and FS9. You can link them with a wildcard too like this: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=search&fname=*38m.zip In your hypothetical example above "filename1.zip, filename2.zip, filename3.zip" you could hypothetically use filename*.zip to find them all. If there are no commonalities in the filenames then I don't think it's possible to search more than one file at a time.
CaptainTower Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 Thanks, Jim. What is so funny about this is I actually have done that and just never thought about it. Usually, my reason for wanting to use multiple file names in a search is because there may be an update or a patch for the main file that I want to download at the same time. Thanks for the refresher course, though! ;) Thank you, Tim ASUS GL 12CX; Intel i7 9700K 3.6 GHz; 16 GB GDDR8 Memory; System BUS 2660 MHz; 8 MB L3 cache; NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2080 8GB GDDR6; Windows 10 Home x64
