MS Vista problems

I suddenly am unable to run my FS9 or either of my Combat FS in Windows Vista. I can run FS 98. I get access denied please run as administrator. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Uninstalled - cleaned out the registry and reinstalled but still get the same thing. If I right click and select run as administrator nothing happens. Outside of realoading windows, anybody know how to fix this?

1) What folder is it in? If you install in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(X86) then install it someplace other than that. C:|Games\FS2005, just for an example.

2) Are you logged to the drive as Administrator? If not, make it so that if you want to play, log in as Admin.

3) When you run the FS9.exe do you "run as administrator"? If not, find the Icon of hte Shortcut to the game that you use to start it, and right click on it. From the box that pops up, near the bottom, click on Advanced, then check the Run As Administrator radio button.

Click oK till the box closes completely.

4 Once you get it installed, rightclick on the icon of the folder it's in. Click on Properties in the drop down menu that pops up. Click on the Security tab at the top, click on the name "Administrator" in the top box, then click the Allow heading of hte box below the one with all the names of users in it. Click OK until the box closes.

Does all this rambling help at all? I tried to list them in order of importance.

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

Sounds suspiciously like the Windows update that has stuffed the CD drive of so many PCs.

Do you have Windows Update KB3086255 on your system? If so, then uninstall it. That should fix your problem - but beware, this is only a short term solution as the update will install again next time Windows does its monthly update routine.

The only sure way to permanently stop this happening is to get the no CD crack.
