boomtisqwerty
Hi, does anyone know if it would be possible to make a complete airport including runways with GMAX. I haven't used GMAX before and am completely new to it. If not GMAX then Sketchup? I am looking to make something high quality with 3d grass, not like ADE stuff. Any help is appreciated as always. Or just 3d grass addons for ade. RB
copperpen
Gmax or Sketchup can be used to model the buildings but I question the use of 3D grass in such a project, an airport of any size has a lot of grass area. ADE or similar has to be used to make the facilities part, runways taxiways etc.
boomtisqwerty
Thanks for the reply. The specific airport I had in mind was St Mary's (EGHE). How about small clumps of grass or tufts of it. Any form of vegetation really: trees, bushes, weeds etc. Anything to brighten up the place and make it more realistic. It doesn't have to cover the whole area, just around the edges of the runways and taxiways and aprons.
tgibson_new
You can add plants as library objects; there are several addon libraries available with weeds and bushes (which can be lowered into the ground to make short weeds). There are also a lot of tree libraries. As for runways, etc., you can create ground polygons with custom textures including runways, taxiways, markings, etc. As much as you want. But then you would need to place any runway or taxiway lights as separate objects. Don (gadget) has a program that will create the approach lights; other lights can be placed separately. While ADE will create simple ground polygons, most people that are using GMAX to create complex ones are using ModelConverterX to convert these to ground polygons.
