Floydturbo Posted November 12, 2015 Share Posted November 12, 2015 Hello All, Trying to fly my F18 today and when I throttle up full power (F4 Key) it acts like it's going and then powers down. I have a logitech Extreme 3D Pro but haven't changed a thing on that. It was working a couple of months ago when I was exploring flying the F18/ There are other weird things happening but I have to get past this one first and foremost. Any thoughts out there? Thanks. PhantomTweak Posted November 13, 2015 Share Posted November 13, 2015 That happens sometimes if the joystick throttle is touched slightly, even just bumped a little. The throttle on the plane being flown will suddenly jump to the joystick's throttle setting. If I accidentaly let my arm holding the joystick touch the throttle on it, bam, no thrust left on the plane. Same if you calibrate the joystick while flying. The plane's throttle will go to the joystick's setting, which is, after calibration, 0. It could also be a dirty throttle on the joystick getting "noisy", or a slightly stuck/touchy/dirty F1 button on hthe keyboard. Does this help at all? I now have about 700 hours on MFSX Steam Edition. I am starting to try and install new aircraft. I have downloaded off of fs-freeware.net and Simviation. I have three aircraft I have followed the read me instructions to the t, or so I thought, and nothing. They don't even show up in the choose plane area. I am getting ready to be willing to buy some really nice downloads but I want to understand what I'm doing first. For instance. I down loaded the 787AirforceFSX and followed the read me install instructions exactly as it described...nothing. Any guidance or ideas would be greatly appreciated. ScatterbrainKid Posted September 1, 2016 Share Posted September 1, 2016 Some FSX downloads produce "folders within folders" and a lot of assorted non-essential stuff, so you have to winkle out the folder containing the essential 6 files you need, namely Model/Panel/Sound/Texture/aircraft file/cfg file and put the folder into the FSX Airplanes folder. PhantomTweak Posted September 1, 2016 Share Posted September 1, 2016 The DLC folder, mentioned in the linked posts above, seems to be saved for planes purchased from Steam. I have downloaded and installed a ton of freeware planes from all over, Simviation, SimOuthouse, here at Flightsim, you name it, and I haven't had any trouble installing them into the \FSX\Simobjects\Airplanes folder. Or Rotorcraft, or whatever. This is in the FSX-SE, so don't get overly confused by the DLC folder. First thing is, if you have FSX installed in the \Program Files or \Program Files(X86) folders, MOVE IT. Have Steam install all it's "stuff" anyplace other than either of those two folders. It seems to cause nothing but problems when it is there. Next, there is a little box down at the bottom of the Aircraft Select screen, labeled Show All Variations. Right beside the large Details box. Make sure that box is checked or you won't see most freeware add-on planes at all. I, personally, do not trust auto-installers. If I DL a plane that has one, I ALWAYS point it at an empty Temp folder, and have it install to there, then move the files and folders into FSX manually. It sounds like you are pretty familiar with how-to so I won't go into details here. The biggest thing about FSX-SE is that it buries the FSX folder, and all it's subfolders, "deeper" into it's folder structure than Microsoft did originally with FSX. As long as you know where the FSX "stuff" is with the Steam folder structure you can install aircraft, boats, animals, etc just like with FSX Boxed. I personally, and this is just a guess mind you, suspect your problem is the Show All Variations check-box not being checked. Again, just a guess, though.
