floraminpost.nu
Hallo all! I have run MSX2004 for many years now (more than 10 years). But these days the program stops working suddenly after flying half an hour or so. It does not happen every time but quite often and I operate the program as usual. The report that suddenly appears at the screen is; "Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working. A problem caused the program to end. It did not work perfectly." Anybody who has had this problem and know the solution? Rolf Aronsson, Sweden

Rolf Aronsson, Sweden Bit confusing as you are referring to FSX2004 [there isn't such a program], MSX2004 [again, no such program] and you are posting in the FS2004 forum!! So, is your question about FS2004 or FSX? Also, there should be a drop down box you can access when you get the error message which should give information about the module which has failed. This might then give a clue as to what is happening on your system. Dijvid
floraminpost.nu
Thank you very much for answering! And excuse me! I was not clear. The name of my program is "Microsoft Flight Simulator X Gold edition". That is the name on the cd-box. I even see in the program: "Copyright 2007 Microsoft Corporation". So perhaps the name should be "FSX2007". I do not know. About a drop down box at the error message so I will control this when there is problem next time. Again, thank you! Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Event Viewer, select Custom Views-> Administrative Events. One of the listed events will be for your CTD. The "Faulting Module" should point to the problem area. Tell us what the Faulting Module is! That will point us in the direction of the proper error, aiding in troubleshooting. Below is just an example of what you will see! General Tab: Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb14 Faulting module name: This is what we need to Know! If it works OK, then reinstall them one at a time and test. Be sure to test each thoroughly before moving on to the next Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! il88pp
FS = Flight Simulator FS9= FS2004 you would expect the next version was: FS10 (or FS2007) but Microsoft called it FSX instead. I think the X is not so much a X, but is really a roman number 10. (X With a bar below and above it.) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ScatterbrainKid
..The name of my program is "Microsoft Flight Simulator X Gold edition".. Congratulations, that's the best and latest version of FSX because it includes Acceleration, so you're in the correct forum here, welcome to the asylum..:) This is my FSX Gold Edition, it's a three-disk pack which I've had for about 8 years, yours is probably the same- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g64/PoorOldSpike/CMSF/fsx-gold-pack.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g64/PoorOldSpike/CMSF/fsx-gold-disks.jpg Sorry I don't know the answer to your technical problem, I only know how to waggle my joystick to make my little planes go wheeeeee, but I'm sure the experts here will be able to help you because there's nothing they don't know, I even learnt from them where babies come from..;)
floraminpost.nu
Well, exact that edition you show here is the one I bought. I think it was in 2008 or something like that. It has worked fine all the years. There are several details that are much better solved than in the X-plane program! But the problem now coming up, as I told in my first post here, is not so fun when you fly a long trip and the computer stops the flight ten minutes before you plan to the land... So I hope fervently there is anybody here who really know what can has happened with my computer. I can tell that I updated to Windows 10 a couple of months ago. But I can not think that is be probelm. Greetings Rolf Aronsson
longbreak754
WRT your OP - can you be more specific as to what you are doing when the sim crashes. For example, do you make extensive use of the menu listings to change views etc. There is a well known and documented problem regarding the use of the menus that can cause similar symptoms to what your are experiencing. If the answer is yes to using the menus, place a copy of a file called UIAutomationCore.dll into the root directory of FSX (ie C:\FSX). The file can be found on number of website including here. The version at this website is 6.0.6001.18000 and is the one that I use with my 'gold' install. There are other versions available if this one doesn't work - simply google UIAutomationCore.dll for FSX. Whilst the inclusion of this file is known to fix the menu use problem is may also fix other errors as well - see the following thread for ore info - https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?274224-FSX-CTD-problem&p=1826231#post1826231 Regards Brian
ScatterbrainKid
..I updated to Windows 10 a couple of months ago. But I can not think that is be probelm. It might be. FSX runs fine on my desktop PC with Win 7. But FSX sometimes stops working on my laptop with 8.1 and I get the message "Stopped working" but it doesn't happen very often and I can easily live with it. I might get Win 10 in the future, but not for a long time because I don't need it.
jorgen.s.andersen
Hi Rolf, and welcome to the world of FSX devotees. I have been running FSX under Windows 8 and 8.1 for a couple of years, and never had a problem related to the OS. Am between computers right now, having moved around 1/2 planet, but will be trying under Win 10, hopefully real soon now! For troubleshooting your particular issue, take a look at Mr. Zippy's posting above and post the information here. Jorgen
floraminpost.nu
Thank you all! I have now updated with program "UIAutomationCore.dll". Thank you dear Longbreak754.
