About This File

FS5/FSFS J7W1 Kyushu Navy 18-shi Shinden WWII intercepter fighter. The design of the Japanese J7W1 "Shinden" (Tremendous Thunder) started at 1944, about the same time of another canard plane, the Curtiss-Wright XP-55. However, it was the only one planned to put into production. The Shinden was designed as a high-altitude interceptor to meet and destroy incoming bombers. With this as a goal, the Shinden stressed climb rate over maneuverability and used a large radial engine of 2130 hp. By Dennis Wasnich.
