FSFW95 Bell X-1 Experimental This rocket powered aircraft is depicted as Bell X1 #6062 which was the first aircraft to break the sound barrier, on October 14th, 1947. It was flown by the then Major Chuck Yeager who named it after his wife Glennis. The aircraft is now in the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Washington D.C.
