About This File

FS2000 Scenery--Badshahi Mosque Lahore, Pakistan. Badshahi Masjid, which literally means the Royal Mosque, was built by Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir, son of the king who built the Taj Mahal. Built entirely of red sandstone in a record time of two and a half years (completed by 1674 A.D.) it is said to have the largest mosque courtyard in the world for outdoor prayers (it can accomodate 60,000 worshippers). Marble domes cover seven prayer chambers. Features floral designs on the stone, photoreal textures with night lighting and elegant (polygon complex) domes and Mughal Toperee Gardens.
