FS2004 Scenery--Revelstoke CYVR in British Columbia Canada
FS2004 Scenery--Revelstoke CYVR in British Columbia Canada. Revelstoke is around 400 miles northeast of Vancouver, on the banks of the Columbia River. It was first established in the 1880's and the main industry was mining. The railroad built by the Canadian Pacific Railway passes through the town and dates back to around 1885. Since then the Trans-Canada Highway in 1962 further eased access to the area and the primary attractions of the town are now winter sports, with a population that varies from 7,500 to over 15,000 according to the seasons. The airfield is very visible, with the runway (aligned 12-30 and 4,800 feet long) usually surrounded on three sides by water, though this varies according to the seasonal water level and there has been some land infilling in recent years. There is no lighting for the runway or taxiways as the surrounding terrain totally rules out any flying after sunset. A glance at the screenshots explains this, and right hand circuits are required for runway 12. This version is for around 2010 and predates any land infill. By Roger Wensley.

FS2004 Scenery--Graskop Airfield, South Africa
FS2004 Scenery--Graskop Airfield, South Africa. Graskop Airfield does not appear in the default FS2004, neither is the town included which is a pity as the airfield lies right on the edge of a gorge where bungee jumping and even a Gorge-lift (elevator) or a slide across the gorge can be enjoyed by the adrenaline junkies. Added to this, the airfield (and town of Graskop) is merely 10km from the world famous God's Window (also featured in the film, "The Gods must be Crazy"). This package will add a custom (Gmax and Sketchup) made Graskop Airfield (AWK4), Mpumalanga, South Africa with photoreal textures and ground textures. The included Landclass file will also add the town. The small airfield has been recreated with custom true to life models and photoreal textures. While being a very small airfield with only one hangar and a large antenna tower, the importance of the airfield far outweighs its size. The airfield plays a vital role in the fight against wildfires as there are water bombers based at the airfield during critical times. In real life the runway is quite challenging, being sloped quite significantly and very narrow, with a one-way-in one-way-out landing and takeoff procedure. Due to the limits within flightsim, the slope could not be replicated but all the other challenges are there. The asphalt runway is aligned 15/33 and only 800m long by 8.5m wide and sits at an elevation of 4854 ft. By Kobus van Wyk and Morne van Wyk.102 downloads

FS2004 Scenery--Torrejon Air Force Base (LETO), 1957-62
By avpingel
FS2004 Scenery--Torrejon Air Force Base (LETO), 1957-62. Torrejon Air Base was originally the home of the Spanish National Institute of Aeronautics, but as a result of an agreement between Franco and the Unites States in 1953 an air base was created there with a large military apron and a runway 13,400 feet long - the longest in Europe for some decades. Officially opened in June 1957, both US bombers and fighters were based there, most significantly the B-47 Stratojet, which had too short a range to be operated only from the U.S. In July of 1958 the 497th Fighter Interceptor Squadron became the first permanently stationed Air Defence Group operating F-86L Sabres and from April 1960 the F-102 Delta Dagger. Over the years many different units and therefore many different aircraft types did TDY (Temporary Duty Assignments - usually 30-90 days) at Torrejon. Units of the Spanish Air Force were also present and are represented in this scenery package. By Al Von Pingel and Ken Lawson.171 downloads

FS2004 Scenery--Grande Cache CEQ5 In Alberta, Canada Modify
FS2004 Scenery--Grande Cache CEQ5 In Alberta, Canada Modify. This posting modifies and adds to the original post of CEQ5 to provide missing textures to parked planes. Install the contents of the new texture folder into the original posting texture folder, adding the missing plane textures and replacing the original AT-802A Duster folder. Remove the misspelt "AT-820A.bgl" from the original scenery folder and install in it's place the new "AT-802A.bgl". This repair is a result of having to reinstall all of my data from my recently failed laptop to a new one. Quite complicated. By Roger Wensley.84 downloads

FS2004 Scenery--Kamschaktka Fantasy
FS2004 Scenery--Kamschaktka Fantasy. The great peninsula of Russia on the Pacific coast. The landscape is very beautiful, as there are still active volcanoes here in places. In addition to ore mining, a lot of fish is caught in the Sea of Ochot and sent around the world. Be it by ship or by plane. The flora and fauna are not injured yet. Kamchatka is quite similar to Alaska. Just know its peculiarity through its nature and volcanoes. I won't go into the military significance here. Flights from Kamschatka to a western island of Alaska are particularly interesting. The date line and time line are flown over. Airfields have also been created here, which are very interesting because of the joy of the simulator and the beautiful landscapes, which in reality do not exist because the peninsula is sparsely populated. FS2004 Scenery--Grande Cache CEQ5 In Alberta, Canada
FS2004 Scenery--Grande Cache CEQ5 In Alberta, Canada. Grande Cache is at 4,117 feet asl, just under 90 miles south of Grande Prairie and 220 miles west of Edmonton. It is among the eastern foothills of the Rockies. The town was established to accommodate employees of a coal mine and their families in the early 1970's. There was a financial roller coaster ride for the coalmine during the next few years and despite the opening of a wood chip plant and a federal prison the town was eventually downgraded to a hamlet by a vote in 2018, as it was essentially bankrupt and had a population of less than 4,500. The airport, some 10 miles east of the town, had two aprons, one for GA and scheduled flights and another, the eastern one, for fire fighting planes. I say "had" as it was closed in January 2017. However, the fire fighting area appears to have been maintained (tanks repainted, for instance) and is presumably able to support operations if required. The date for this scenery is 2009. There is no video. By Roger Wensley.113 downloads

FS2004 Scenery--More Private Strips
FS2004 Scenery--More Private Strips. Even more 'Private Strips' from around England and Wales. When combined with my previous "Private Strips Revisited" (PRIVATE_STRIPS-REVISITED.ZIP) these will give a total of nearly 500 little airfields, which have been predominantly created to provide a source for GA and microlight AI traffic flights, without having to clutter up the more major airfields. All airfields have parking for (usually) two aircraft and associated taxiways to facilitate their coming and going. Please note: these sceneries have been designed for use in FS2004 with the original UK VFR Photographic scenery and mesh. They rely for details on the "usual" collections of library objects, specifically EZ-Scenery, UKVFR and Rwy12 libraries. Whilst other configurations will probably work, to a degree, you'll have to try them and see if they suit you. See the enclosed ReadMe for further details. By Chris Eve.97 downloads

FS2004 Scenery--Azoren Inseln
FS2004 Scenery--Azoren Inseln. The Azores volcano islands almost in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean offer a good home for the large sea inhabitants of the whales. Earlier they were hunted here. Now many tourists travel to the Azores to practice "whale watching", to enjoy the good climate and the beautiful prospects. The famous Azores high often influences Europe with its weather. In the past, the Azores were also called "aircraft carriers" seen in the Atlantic to refuel there. Largest airports: Santa Maria LPAZ and Lajes LPLA. By Black Baron.147 downloads

FS2004 Scenery--Schefferville CYKL And Squaw Lake CSZ9
FS2004 Scenery--Schefferville CYKL And Squaw Lake CSZ9, Quebec, Canada. Schefferville is a town in an area of Quebec that is surrounded by Labrador, the border taking an unusual wriggly course instead of the normal Canadian straight line. One has to presume that there was a lot of political negotiation involved. Take a look at Google Earth. The town was established in 1954 (at a site north of the present location, and initially with a different name) to support newly established iron ore mining. To assist with the exploration for further iron ore and the construction of the railway it seems that there was a forced relocation of native population. Although iron ore mining around Schefferville in its current location flourished through the late 1960's these relocated folk were neglected and suffered "destitute poverty". Through the 1970's iron ore mining declined and ceased in Schefferville in 1982, when most of the 4,000 or so non-native residents left. Since the year 2000 there have been moves to reopen mining in the area and production restarted in 2011, the approximate date of this scenery. The main reason why iron ore mining started again in Schefferville as opposed to any other area in Quebec or Labrador is the existing railway for ore transportation. There is no road connection and the airport is the only other means of access for the 250(?) town inhabitants. This population figure is somewhat of a guess, and the town inhabitants are largely company officers who change and move in and out as required by their work. Schefferville airport is to the east of the town. It has a single lit asphalt runway that is aligned 18-36 and is 4,975 feet long and 150 feet wide, with PAPI at both ends. Air Inuit flights connect with Kuujjuaq to the north and Sept-Isles to the south with onward connections to all parts of Canada. There are other charter flights for company personnel. The terminal building has been renovated and the photos show just how dilapidated it had become before this was done. I like it, although uncertain as to the reason why. This scenery also includes Squaw Lake, a float base that is used by Air Saguenay. Or was, as the company was closed in 2019 after an accident involving several deaths. The railway has also been added to in the scenery. The reason for Air Saguenay establishing a float base here was, once again, the railway, which allowed people from the south to reach Schefferville for a reasonable cost. They could then use the float planes for a shorter distance and reasonable price to reach fishing lodges on the lakes to the north. If you find an error email me please, and note that my email address has been changed to rogwens at Gmail dot com. The video is a drive to the airport. By Roger Wensley.
