Thread: Those other guys....the brighter side.

For those of you that think the guys at that other site have
nothing to do but bad mouth Flightsim.com, let me show you a
snippet from one of their recent reviews.

"Overall, I was very impressed with this package. All the authors devoted a lot of time and energy to realistically portray this new regional jetliner. I have to say they were successful in their efforts. I really enjoyed flying this aircraft and look forward to future versions of the ERJ-145 from this team. The file for this aircraft, erj145ae.zip, may be found at FlightSim.com. You will find that it is well worth the download! "

Gee, is that Flightsim.com that they want you to come to
to download the file? I wonder what that's about? Maybe
this reviewer realised we are all one family of flight
    simmers. (egads, a libertarian!)

Just as some people here think all people at Avsim are devil worshippers and satanists, some people at Avsim think all people here are bad guys.
In the end, 90% at least of the people at either site are nice guys and a lot of us visit both here and there (and elsewhere as well).

Call me Swizterland (is that spelled right?? :> )
but I like both sites equally.

Besides, we are ALL flightsimmers which means we are already a family in my mind.
Guess the only real dividing line I can think of is
those who enjoy looking at the scenery
and those who enjoy shooting at it....

Except for 2 people, everyone else visits both sites in equal proportion.

Luckily MOST folks enjoy this hobby and have a sense of COMMUNITY rather then a "ME" sense. When more actually catch on to this, the community benefits. There are only a handful on any given site that has a problem with any other site. Using terms as "the other site" or "the perfect site" (sarcastically) is a childish and sometimes a self-agended way of doing things. If a new-comer was to read that, he/she wouldn't know what they were talking about. That is not in the best interest of the community. I personally feel if you can't be a part of the community you should step out and open up a rebellion site, where you can bash all you want. You won't need a large site. There won't be many there. More are interested in enjoying and sharing the hobby, then they are listening to a bunch of one sided hatred regurgitated by the same few constantly.

    Default And,

just to make sure it is clear to everyone who visits here, posts bashing another site, the use of foul language, personal attacks and name calling, etc., will not be tolerated here! Threads of that nature will be promptly removed.

It is sad indeed that this "we and them" thinking exists, it should be just "we".

I choose to mainly hang around at AVSIM for their broader support to the whole flightsim community, not only concentrating at the biggest which Flightsim.com tends to do.
Secondly i choose the AVSIM forums for the more mature crowd and "warmer" climate.
Yes this sounds as if i am turning my back against Flightsim.com but this is not the fact since i also choose this site for reasons such as the reviews found on the main site, the screenshot contest (my favourite), general flightsim information, the fact that i am writing this and much more...
In the end i feel both sites are as much needed and neither should be neglected just for the argument "those strange people over at the *other* site".

It is nice to see that the staff at both sites have also agreed to this lately ;-)
(Yeah i have a pretty good idea of what goes on behind the curtain...)

I not sure what your comment "more mature crowd and "warmer" climate" means. Care to elaborate a little?
    Thanks,
    Just curious.
