    Default This forums' purpose!

I feel the need to make this little announcement about the "Purpose of this forum"! As it says on the main forum page, and I quote:
    "Screen Shot Forum-
Share your flightsim images with others "
This entire series of forums is for Simulation and Real Aviation discussion, and not for political discussion and/or opinions. It is also not for other types of sims. People visit these forums because they enjoy aviation and aircraft.

We encourage the posting of flight simulation screen shots and real aviation photographs, (as long as there is no copyright violations), but any political topics are Off Limits. An occasional shot from other sims will be left solely to the discretion of the moderators, and, depending on what is depicted, may be removed without notice.

    Ash,
What it means, is that we don't want to deviate too far from aviation/simulation topics. I realize that other things will occasionally pop-up, and in moderate amounts, will not be a big problem.

What absolutely will not be tolerated, are political topics/opinions or religious discussions, (as we've seen lately as it relates to a possible military conflict, etc.). There are other forums on the net that are available for these kinds of discussions.

    Darrell,

I completely agree with this rule, however I'm not completely clear on it. For example, I saw a post where the original author posted pictures of a millitary airplane that he was flying around, and another person turned it into a discussion about war. Would you delete/lock the whole post, or would you selectively slice out the offending post? I merely ask because I feel it is unfair to the original author if one troll decides to shoot his mouth off and get the person's post deleted. I think this is especially more likely to happen, mostly due to the recent release of the B-1B.

    Thank's for the response-

    Scott

    Scott,

That's kind of hard to answer, due to the way the software is setup. Usually, we can delete only the offending posts without totally disrupting the original intent. Other times, when we pick out some posts and remove them, everything somehow gets all out of whack. If we can preserve the intent of the originating post, we surely will do that.

We really do want people to post their shots, but just one or two in-appropriate replies can get things all messed up. If we don't catch the in-appropriate posts in a timely manner, it could very well end up in the entire thread being locked or removed. And, that's certainly not fair to the well-intentioned, legitimate poster.

This is where the members can really be of assistance to us. If something doesn't look right, we moderators are only an e-mail message away! ;-) Just let one of us know, and we'll take a look. If it is something really bad, the "Alert" button is the most appropriate means of letting us know. I have two e-mail addresses available, as well as the Private Message function. Most of the other Moderators have the PM and e-mail functions enabled.

I am possibly going to get completely flamed for this, and it may be a little off-topic, but I also get frustrated by shots that are posted up having been editted in Photoshop and the like.

Surely if something has been modified in any way, it can (or should) no longer be classed as a "screenshot"?

...a military a/c makes no war and should not be involved in any
mentions about, but a military a/c with words including Iraq or
any others which blame iraqi people or citizens of any different
arabian origins should be deletet as soon as any possible...!!!!
That has happened at least two time here unfortunately.

I respect ALL opinions about having a war against the Iraq or not, it has NOTHING to do if i´m german or not, i have my opinion about that too, but i use another pages to express that (and get more qualificated mentions back to discuss...)
