Well folks, I'm back from week two of training, and it was a sad day for Horizon Air. We lost a legond today....but in a good way. Today, was the final flight ever for the Fokker F-28 in the fleet. She flew a three leg, employee only tour, with stops in Horizon's two main hubs, Seattle, and then it's final landing at Portland. I got to see her in both cities on my way home from Seattle, and got some pictures which I will be posting as soon as I get the film developed and scanned!
She of course got the fire engine water cannon salute as she pulled into Seattle for the last time. Employees were then let on to the tarmac to say goodbye one last time, and sign the plane. Yes...sign the plane:) It was actually the coolest thing I've ever seen when she came pulling into the gate. Writing al up and down her side. And...spray painted just above the "Horizon" lettering down the side: "Ferry to PDX". As some of you know, the F-28 has been in the process of being phased out for over a year now as Horizon aquired brand new state of the art CRJ-700 jets. The airline owns just over 13 now, with another 19, I think it is to be delivered by the end of 2004. I'll miss the F-28. She was a great plane to fly in....all though loud:)
Yes...yes...I know...no screen shots or pictures....but this is the only forum I post in, so I just did it anyway. I'll make up for it hopefully by the end of the weekend when I get those photos developed. So...some of you can roll your eyes and ask me why I posted it...And to be honest I really don't care:)
Thank's for reading!!
