As many of you repaint - I want to start repainting planes and before I go and buy the programs, I want to try it in paint!

I know you can do it in paint simply, but most of the textures, when I open it in paint just come up with a black white screen.
How can I stop this?
Some planes dont do it, but I want to paint a particualar one, how can I open it when I only have paint, and MSPhoto Editor.

Hi,

you need either Image tool or DTXbmp to convert the textures from DTX3 to 32 bit, save them as .tga as this preserves the alpha, after you have edited, just reconvert the .tga to 32 bit or DTX3 bmp format.

Paint is a very very limited program to do repaints. I recommend you to get Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop. I use Photoshop and it's not a cheap software, but Paint Shop Pro is as good as the latter one is and not that expensive.

Go to www.jasc.com and d'load a trial version of PSP. You'll have 30 days to try it and If you like it, it'll cost you around $100.
