Default Have you seen this, do you have a cure?

This problem happens on some third party aircraft I load in FS2002 Pro, that are supposed to be FS2002 compliant. I've also had this happen on some FS2000 aircraft I have loaded into FS2002, but not all. Everything works fine until I engage the autopilot. At that point the trim wheel slowly but surely skews to the extreme downwards position and puts the aircraft into an extreme pitch that of course results in a stall. If I disengage the AP it will stop skewing. You can get the trim wheel moving back the other way, but as soon as you stop clicking on it, it skews back to 'extreme' position, if AP is engaged.

This does not happen on all imported aircraft and this happens even if using default panels. I haven't seen anything in the FS2002 Tips section on this.

    Any suggestions? Cures?

    Thx in advance :-wave

    Bob,

When you say converted to FS2002, what do you mean..? Have you created new sections in the .cfg file for each aircraft that are appropriate for the FS2000 model being converted..?

If not then that's possibly your problem. The FSEdit package that ships with FS2002 Pro is specifically there (supposedly) to port over earlier aircraft to FS2002.
The trouble is it's flawed and does strange things to the air file, so you need to back up the original air file and then restore that after FSEdit has finished its work. This is necessary as for some inexplicable reason FS2002 does not seem to recognise the old Section 1199 in the air file - which just happens to be the autopilot section.

So without creating a correct .cfg file you're probably finding a system error casused by FS2002 not recognising the autopilot settings and commanding a full control deflection.

Just porting over FS2000 aircraft into FS2002 does not always work very well, as you've discovered.

    Hi Simon,

What I meant was, that you find aircraft on this site that say they are for FS2002. When loaded they have this problem. It just dawned on me that I've only seen this problem on Propeller aircraft.(????)

I haven't used any of the edit programs to put FS2000 aircraft into FS2002. Most work fine as long as you use a FS2002 default panel. It could be that an aircraft that apparently is FS2002 compliant might be in terms of lights and effects, etc. perhaps the .air file issues you mentioned were overlooked?

Please, anyone reading this. I'm in no way intending to slam the good people who provide all these great aircraft, etc. It's probably something I'm doing wrong, or a MSFS quirk :-)
