BR2 Yakolev Yak-9U

[VF2_Rolf]

One of the later versions of this old soldier of the VVF/Red Airforce. The prototype had an incredible top speed (for 1943) of well over 430 mph at 18,500 ft...compared to the pevious year's Yaks which topped out at a mere 360 mph. The U could muscle its way to 16,500 in just over 4 minutes making it an effective interceptor against Luftwaffe raiders.
One of the great un-sung aircraft of WW2, the Yak-9 ranks with the best, being on par with the P-51, Me-109, Spitfire etc.

Thanks :) ...I just fly 'em. Bruno Duffort did the paint-job on that fine aircraft. The Dornier-17 (a little early for Russia, I think) is also another excellent 3rd party CFS2 aircraft. Both are done in Gmax.

Note: Bruno seems to be having a problem with his aircraft downloads on his site. I know his terrific Flying Tigers set is at Simviation.....perhaps even here at Flightsim. :)

The Yak comes in several parts, as usual...but few look better...a great example of 3rd party freeware. I missed getting his Russian P-40 before the meltdown mind you...
