    Default "Experimental" label

    I've discovered a new and annoying variation of this problem. I repainted one Dash 8 and downloaded another, both of which I inserted in the default Dash 8 file. They now appear as AI aircraft as I intended BUT ATC has somehow lost the "Dash 8" moniker and simply calls them "experimental." I know I heard ATC referring to "De Havilland Dash 8" in chatter prior to my making the changes.

    I still have the old files backed up and I've checked the cfg files for all of them. They all havee "Dash 8-100" in the "ui_type=" line. I thought that was what controlled this.

    Anyone have an idea what the heck I did?

    {fltsim.0}
    atc_id=N111BB
    atc_airline=pick from the list
    atc_flight_number=XXX
    ui_manufacturer=De Havilland
    ui_type=Dash 8-100
    ui_variation=Airflump Airlines

    I think that you changed the following section.
    Defaults should read like this:
    {General}
    atc_type=DeHavilland
    atc_model=DH8A

    The ui section is for what you see when you select the plane in the flight simulator. You have to change the sectional brackets. The General section is for the ATCs basic plane description. The tho fltsim.X section is for defining the individual version.

    Actually, I think I've found the source of the problem. The offending aircraft were 3rd party products, as I mentioned. The second line in the cfg file ("sim=") is the problem. The default a/c are all "sim=DH_Dash8_100" while the 3rd party ones are something different. Obviously ATC only recognizes the former for whatever reason. And that, of course, presents a second problem in that the default bitmaps are MUCH harder to repaint!

    Thanks for the responses!
