1. Default drivers problem update-please read you gurus

Folks,

After realizing that my problems (dark screens and screwed up colors) were caused by my old monitor I bought a brand new one and all seemed to be fine: Fs2002 has the right colors,great scenery et all.But.I am still getting those frustrating Hd reads.Some of 'em last even 10 secs...what a pain.Some suggested I edit fs2002.cfg,which I did but no go.I tried using Nvmax, NO Go either.I tried using other drivers (I was using 21*something) and I switched back to 12.41.No go.Still getting those darn HD reads that make you feel like pulling the plug, which I also did.

Now, is there anything I can do to get fs2002 to fly "smoothly" ,besides upgrading to some 512 of RAM ?

Any magic trick from ya experts ?

Thanks in advance

Open system.ini, and add these lines to the 386enh part,

ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1
DMABufferSize=64
LocalLoadHigh=1
PageBuffers=32

this will force windows to use all available ram before using the swap file so it should reduce or eliminate your hd read problem.

Hope this helps, and Happy New year.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-01-02 AT 09:04PM (EDT)[p]That's your problem, you need a lot more memory. I had 256 and my hard drive was constantly being accessed making everything choppy. I went to 512 and the game is as smooth as silk now. The hard drive never blinks now.
