Default is it just me or is fs2002 dark even in day? how do i make lighter

both me and my father have found fs2002 to be sort of dark even if there is not a cloud in the sky and it is noon! how do you change the brightness of the flightsim. i have tried making the moniter brighter but even at its britest it is not that bright. in real life if it is a sunny blue day then it is realy bright when you go flying. if there is no way to change this then i with be very disapionted!

Try flying in July or August.

I don't know where you usually fly, but I do most of my flights in UK. Right now its winter & even in the daytime, it really isn't very bright, even in real life.

Now move the simulator to somewhere like the Caribbean & you should find that the scenery is just as light as previous versions.

Don't think it's just you. I find it dark also. I've adjusted my video card and monitor and this helped a bit. I've tried different areas at different times of the year and its too dark. I still have FS 2000 Pro loaded and recently compared the brightness between the two. FS 2000 is much brighter. FS 2002 needs to be fixed.

As the other posters above have pointed out, FS2002 seasonally adjusts lighting. In winter it's darker and summer it's lighter. This is also obviously affected by your location as it might be Winter in the U.K. right now but in New Zealand, for example, it's summer.

    You're absolutely correct.
FS made the ground textures lighter is FS2000 which
brought endless whining from the community, so everything
is now near black. What ever happened to sunlit uplands?
Try desert around Vegas. That looks like day light.

I don't know, but it looks even darker when you take a screenshot... =(.

I'm not quite sure if the original post here is referring to ground textures (or in part to them), but since you mention them here, I totally agree about the darkness of many of the surface textures. In mountainous areas and coastal foothills I've flown around in California and elsewhere the ground appears very unnaturally dark even in the spring and summer. I hope this will be added to the list of needed changes, along with road textures, for the next version.

Max - Nobody here can really be entirely sure if what you're eperiencing is normal altering of terrain textures (time, season etcetera) or some other problem.

A better idea may be to take a screenshot of the problems and upload it so we can take a look (take a screenshot by hitting 'Print screen' when you want to take a picture and then 'pasting' it into MS Paint - Instructions on how to puload this are available at http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/DCF...ing-howto.html) and try and sort out your problem.

Get this done, and we'll all have a crack at sorting this out for you.
