Scenery and texture loading when changing 'World'settings

I was given FS2002 for Christmas and have started experimenting with it. One major difference I have noticed versus my FS2000 is that whenever I change a 'World' setting (move to a new airport, change season, change time of day etc etc) I get an (I) window saying that elevation data, scenery texture, 3D Objects, ATC data and AI traffic are being loaded. As this sequence takes roughly one minute it can take me several minutes to set up the flight which is a bit frustrating. Has anyone else had this problem? Can I shorten the time necessary for loading this data or get rid or the requirement completely?

Yes, put all your scenery, textures, ATC, hardware acceleration to nothing and you will load faster BUT you may think you have FS98 back. I essence is the more detail you want the more time it takes to load into your system.

I do not really know why this happens, all I do know is it was the way that Microsoft worked out the frame rate problems by loading everything required up front instead of as in FS98 and FS2000 where it was loaded as required during flight. Do not know if this really answers your point, but no there is no other way to load the sim 'cept this one and it is for the better,

Hit the scape key andclick "end flight" and the "create a flight" dialog box will appear.
That way you will set plane,location, weather, time, in only one go.

Thanks, Fernando, I have come to the same conclusion that this is probably the best way to handle the problem. Where it is inconvenient is that I am trying to transfer over all my 3rd party scenery from FS2000 and so I am doing a lot of switching around at the moment to check everything out. looks like it is going to be a long process!
