Sound Card

What would be a good sound card for fs2k2. I have a SB Live Value. I haven't got fs2k2 to work right from day one. It will work any where from 1 to about 10 minutes then crash & send it's error report to MS. I've replaced my MS Force feed back version 1 stick with an usb one. When I got my new MB I did a clean install of win ME. Have the latest drivers for the SB, nivida 23.11 for my Xtasy geforce 2 ti 64mg video card. 512mgs ram pc-133. I've been trying everything to get this to work. I haven't had any problems with all the earlier version from fs4 to fs2k. But this one has been one big pain. And the errors are always different.

I swapped my SBL for a $30 Guillemot Maxi Sound Muse and can't tell the diference..errrr, except it doesn't lock up anymore!

Anyway, besides the liveware 3.0 drivers, there is also another set of drivers to be used after setting of 3.0. That file is called sblw9xup.exe.

also, as this may not be the cause, because, again most people on here don't seem to have problems with this, but, I had serious problems with the 23.11 drivers. Weird colors and the occasional lockup. I reverted back to 21.83 and haven't had problems since. btw, using a GeForce2 GTS 64.

Had the lockups with an NVidia GEForce200 MX 32 Meg on a 1.3 AMD system with 640 Meg of RAM and VIA onboard audio. Dump the 22.++ and 23.++ Nvidia drivers and try 12.41 and see if it makes a difference. I had to go back to them after problems with the above versions. It may have the same effect on the SB card.

I've been using SB Live! on my system since SBL came out, including successfully using it with FS2K2 since the software came out. I doubt if the sound card is the culprit. Overheating, probably, if you're crashing after 10 minutes or so? Also, watch your vid driver versions.

It's nivida 23.11. I have all the latest for all my hardware. It's just getting frustrating. I have MS working on it. I have a call into visiontek for the geforce 2 ti card, a call into ECS for my MB & Saitek for the stick. Nothing else I can do right now. I don't want to go out spending money on things hoping that they'll solve the problem.

the 12.41 detonators are working great for me too but I don't know about win ME. I'm using Win98 still.

I don;t think it was your sound card bud. I have the SB Live Value w/ MS FF Precision Pro (original) as well. Never had a prob w/ FS02.

Possibly something else starting to fail. Motherboard, video? Not sure, but I've had FS02 running for over 70 hrs without a lockup or crash or anything.
