I am totally disappointed. FS2K2 says "as real as it gets" meanwhile if i get an engine failure, I can do a mayday with ATC. I used to use Flight Plan for FS98 which told me where the nearest airport I'm closest to so I could land, and FS2K2 doesn't have that feature, all you can do is Cancel VFR/IFR plans.

Excuse me, it says "As Real As It Gets". That ATC program is completely inaccurate from the real thing

How about "partially" inaccurate? Not totally! This program doesn't kill or mame when you crash either. And I don't see any rise in insurance rates or threats from the FAA for flying under bridges! So let's hope it doesn't get entirely "real". Anyone who thinks it should be is under quite an illusion of what you'll get for under 70 bucks.

Maybe what he/she is saying is that in the event of an emergency when on an IFR flight plan, you can't divert to the closest airport and still stay on an IFR flight plan.

I agree that his "totally disappointed" remark was way out of line for the expectations on a $70 sim.

Two ideas. Cancel IFR and ask for flight following or just simulate a radio failure along with the engine. Squawk 7700 and point to the nearest airport and ATC will know exactly what your are doing.

And finally, just add "for the money" to Microsoft's FS2K2 slogan and you will feel so much better.
