    hey,

if any terrain mesh creaters happens to be in this forum...can you tell me where to get DEM or LOD data for the Caribbean...preferedly Dominica...

Have y'all checked out Professa's screenshots in the screenshot forum...very cool...life like...FOR :'(FS2000:-mad...yall should give him the support so he'll release it for FS2002.
if he does release it...then yall should go fly in Dominica...or land in Dominica...best approach in the world...try landing on Runway 9 in real life coming in from North}> ...4747ft mountain in your way!!! but in fs2000/fs2002...I don't need to say more

The only public domain digital elevation models for the Caribbean are of very low resolution. The elevation points are spaced about 1 kilometer apart on a horizontal grid. This is not good enough for small areas of terrain.

I did St. Maarten by creating my own DEM from various topographic maps and then adjusting the shape of the mesh to conform to Microsoft's rendering of the coastlines for that island. This was not a fun project!

In the not so distant future the world may get 90 meter resolution DEMs on the horizontal grid. That would be a major improvement, but not as good as what I would consider to be the minimum required for small islands, i.e., 30 meter resolution.

I agree Dominica is terrible. A clear case of the FS98 Carib scenery being much better! It might have been all spiky montains, but then many real mountains in the Caribbean are pretty spiky too :)
