Believe it or not that feature was actually in FS5.1. In the airport design program they had a set of smoke stacks--large industrial type that put out white billowing (well FS 5.1 type billowing--Heh he..) smoke. If you cranked up the winds a bit the smoke would bend in the wind. Flags would also depict wind direction although there was no waving effect.

    Peter,

Well, that´s a great shot as allways! :-)

What scenery is that, and where did you actually fly when you took this shot? :-hmmm

    Again, very nice.

    Regards,
    Mario

    Hi Peter… :-)

Wow! This is a really great shot!
I Love these scenery shots and that’s a ‘cute’ plane, too!
    (Love the float planes!) :-)

I can’t help but wondering whether you’ve gone back to the default clouds here in this shot?
Those look fantastic to me… Very realistic looking. The “blowing smoke” (is that really what it is?) looks so much like a nice ‘mountain mist!”

    Have to love that! :-)

All the best, as always –

    - Tia

    Tia,

Thank you for your kind remarks.

It is the smoke from the camp fire that is blowing in the wind..it is a special scenery effect made by one of the scenery artists for use on cabins and camp fires etc. The direction it blows will change according to the wind direction that you have prevailing at the moment.

There is a bit of a trap that can stop your smoke blowing and that is the Automatic Taxy Wind in FSUIPC...this automatically reduced the wind to 1 knot whenever you are on the ground (or the water). It must of course be switched off to allow your smoke to blow.

The procedure for switching it off is as follows:-

In FS2002...Go Modules > FSUIPC > Winds Tab > Bottom right "Taxy Wind Control" > Untick the Automatic box and click OFF so that OFF is greyed and ON is black.

Your smoke from the cabins and from the campfires will now blow in the wind.

    Mario,

That is in South East Alaska and it is called Fox Outpost 1, which is a part of some scenery called Foxcamp.zip. It is a very beautiful place :-)

I am sitting in the Beaver Turbo Floatplane, which can be downloaded as a group of three Turbo Beavers...one Wheels, one Wheels/Skis and one Float. The Filename for them is matbvr02.zip
