  1. Default Spitfire Mk IIA - 7 images

Crusing around sunny England, with this remarkable Spitfire MkIIA model - flies slightly on the twitchy side, but models beautifully. A real weather beaten, well worn a/c.

Sitting, just waiting for the scramble order.

Off we go, with a puff of smoke from that mighty Merlin.

Airborne, just get that gear up as quick as possible.

Such beautiful lines, turning back to base. False alarm.

Close up of those smooth lines, not bad for "just a game" eh ? Nice modelling of the ailerons in position too.

Circling the fields of England, in all her glory.

In a moment of seriousness though, this Spitfire MkIIa of 19 Squadron, was based at Fowlmere in June 1941. In the hands of Flt Lt. Walter Lawson it shot down a BF109E and damaged another on June 27.Lawson went on to claim 6 destroyed and several damaged in his 16 months with 19 squadron until, when flying another aircraft, was posted missing on August 28 1941.

Looks amazing. must get this. I particularly like the Gear shot which quite correctly shows each going up at a different rate.

Yeah, it sure is a nice a/c.

It's a VB plane, originally downloaded from http://flightsimmers.net/airbase/vbplanes/

But I've just tried the site, it appears to be down for some reason.

VB Planes has moved to this site http://www.sim-outhouse.com/ Graham (and Brendan, if around) hosts his own forum there on aircraft design.
    Cheers,

Thanks! Having a good scout around now for any other nice looking warbirds.
