    Default Campaign tips?

    The game is running quite well on my system, so this thread is NOT about tweaks...

    I'm playing the single-player campaign and I'm having trouble understanding what I should be doing.

    On the "map" screen, near the bottom, on the drop-down list where you choose the mission, is there any significance to the asterisks? What I mean is that you will see a list like this:

    ***Destroy Ships at Q17
    ***Attack Infantry at Q19
    **Attack Armor at Q19
    *Recon at Q22

    I ASSUME that the more asterisks there are, the more important the mission is. But I cannot confirm that using the less-than-detailed documentation included with the game...

    Also, how do you decide what "square" to target on the campaign map? What criteria do you use to choose a mission?

    I was doing well at first. This is my first campaign (obviously), and I'm flying for the British. I had the front line pushed back into France early on, but now, I'm getting stomped--the front line is now half way to London...

    I've done every kind of mission, and they all seem to have a random (or non-existent) impact on the front line. I'd love to do a ground assault, but Britain has no reserves.

    Thanks for your help!

    Yes the more asterisks there are the more important the mission is.Now to get the front line into france and not invading london is to distroy ALL the shiping missions before you move on to ground assalts.I usually target the spuares that are closer to london and when the front line is in the main land I chose the spuare close to a production center,large city, ect.I always chose the *** and usually never chose something less since that will move the front line a lot less.hope this helps...

    Default Campaign tips 101

    Campaign strategies 101: the list of missions are in order of importance with the top priority at the top of the list. There may seem to be a lot of anti-shipping missions but as the action moves away from the channel, it will switch to a land based missions. Which box to attack? The inside colour of the box shows your sides health and the border displays the enemies. One of the factors I use to decide on which box to pick is which colours are the most opposite; preferably green with a red border. I also look to see what else is in the box such as railways or factories. After I have completed my primary mission, I switch to seek and destroy and go for these juicy targets. Sometimes I will pick a target close to my own HQ so after the main target is destroyed, I still have plenty of fuel for other targets of opportunity. If I see a section of the frontline where there are 3 or 4 green boxes (with red borders) in a row, I will choose that area and soften up the enemy for my advancing forces. Another factor is the recon level of the box. If the level is low or none, chances are that you will not be able to find your target and have to return to base without completing the mission. Once you arrive at the supposed area and there is no sign of your chosen target, you will have to search for it while burning up precious fuel. I hope this helps.

    Hey mrpercy (or anyone else)do you know if after you destroy your target can you destroy something else and would that count?Ex.I finish a shiping mission and on my way back I spot a few enemy ships ,if I destroy them will it be counted or will I have to do another mission to distroy those ships that I destroyed after I completed my last mission. thanks

    Ok, let's talk about colors a bit more.

    Red=low

    Yellow=medium

    Green=high

    And these colors are the same for both sides. So, if there is a red box (low FRIENDLY health) and a green border (High ENEMY health), wouldn't that be the color combination that would draw your attack?

    The enemy is strong in that sector, while your country's forces are weak there. The enemy will soon overrun that sector unless some help arrives (like a squadron of aircraft...).

    But, maybe I'm going about this the wrong way. Maybe it is a better idea to attack green boxes (high friendly health) with red borders (low enemy health) so that YOUR forces overrun the enemy in that sector.

    What's the consensus on this?

    Whereever an interesting area has recon lacking, a single recon mission there might actually change the colors and priorities on the map, I didn't realize at first...

    I wouldn't mind if MS sold some add-on campaign bundles later on...
