nvidia's new 40.72 driver and GeForce4

Just wondering if anyone has downloaded and used the new driver on CFS3 (40.72,it came out this morning)If anyone has,please let me know if it has had a desireable impact on performance on CFS3.I spent an hour and a half on the phone today with microsoft and the operator i talked to suggested this and by the way he wasnt able to help me get more performance out of CFS3.I tried just about everything.On display settings,i have everything at 1 except the aircraft.At this setting,the sim runs pretty smooth for the most part,but if i have effects turned up and am shooting down a fighter or im getting shot down,the sim seriously starts taking a dump and starts freezing like mad.The faster the bullets get pumped into my A/C,the more the sim freezes up,it totally sucks big time.I have a GeForce2,anyone around here have a Geforce4? All i want is to just have the settings at 2 and get smooth performance,but obviously this wont happen unless the new driver works or i get the new GeForce4.Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!:(

I am using the 41.03 Detonator Drivers and I have found less anomolies with it than 40.72.

I loaded the 40.72 driver as a beta, about 3 weeks ago, and it works great. Your problem, is the game might be running in 2D.
What happens is when you download CFS3, it automaticly up grades DirectX to 8.2, then shuts down 3D in DirectX, go to Dxdiag, click on the display tab, then go down and click on 3D, this will activate your 3D & DirectX 8.2

I have a GeForce 4 TI 4600 and I am happy with CFS3 although I am using a two year old Pentium III. I installed the new drivers last night but don't really see any change.

I'm running the new 40.72 dets and they seem to work fine. Ive got CFS 3 running well with all slider 4/5 in detail. Full Scene AA must be turned off!.
