Thread: altering fuel consumption

    Default altering fuel consumption

    Greetings everybody,

I have recently modified a COF aircraft to make it "behave" in FS2k2. Everything seems to work well so far, apart of the fact that the fuel consumption is extremely high. Apparently, I cannot figure out by myself which variables affect fuel consumption. (I do NOT think it is "fuel_flow_scalar", it seems to affect the engine spool up rate. I wouldn't like to alter the drag scalar parameters either, because speeds are OK.)

Any help will be highly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,

    It's fuel_flow_gain.

The correct parameter is indeed fuel_flow_scalar. Altering the gain will do the trick but only with some adjustment. The scalar fixes it directly. I do it all the time using a simple proportion:

With a scalar value of 1, you observe 25 gph when the desired value at that same power setting is 18 gph. Set the scalar at 18/25 = 0.72 and you will get the right performance. This is always the last adjustment to make on a flight model.

    Ian,
    Tom,

many thanks for helping me out with this. With the current petrol prices over here in Germany, I really couldn't afford to fly this bird! By the way, do you think the same applies to my car as well?

    Thank you again,

    Gombi
