Default Stretch A MD-90 in Gmax.....

    Hey guys,

I am one of the guys who loves the older iron such as the MD's. I was curious to know if it would be easy enough to take a current gmax md-90 (I didn't make it origionally, that why I have the question) and put it back in gmax and stretch the body by like 30%? Basically take a piece of the body, copy it, then insert it somewhere else? I have not used gmax, so I was curious to know if it was possible. Thanks for any and all replies.

If what you have is the gmax source file (*.gmax), it isn't at all difficult. If what you have is a compiled model (*.mdl file) then it's nigh near impossible.

Ya, all I have right now is the .mdl file. I am working on getting the g-max file. Is it pretty simple stretch the body once I have this file?

Presuming that main change is a lengthened fuselage only, I would select all points forward of the fuselage and move "forward" the appropriate length, then the same for points aft.

    That's for the fuselage.

THen you have to move the remaining bits and pieces (nacelles, forward gear, cockpit glass, etc. to place.

Of course, you have to re map the textures.

Alternatively, you can slice the fuselage forward and aft of the wings, then you can select and move the PARTS together. Then, either create new parts from primitives to "fill in" the gaps, so that, presumably, you only have to remap textures on the new parts.

Again, this is a neophyte's kludge - one of the gmax experts may be able to describe a better way.
