    Default Crashes

I keep crashing to desktop when running FS9 only. I can run FSX and no problems. I have downloaded and installed the latest nvidia (per the detailed instructions) and thought that was it. But here we are a week later and same problem. Below is one of the three events in the event viewer.

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source:
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 0
    Date: 6/23/2007

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 7.

    Hi,

Re-Install FS9, over the top (no need for un-Install), using Your FS9 CD's.

Thanx, I'll give that a try but will my add on scenery, aircraft etc still be there? I don't want to lose all of my addons.

    Hi Garry,

Re-installing will replace only the stock FS9 files. If it didn't come on the disc's it won't replace it. - You may have to re-activate Your add-on secenery though.

Before You Re-install, You may want to try deleting the Main FS9 CFG. file first, then restart FS9 and see if that resolves the issue. - To find the Main FS9 CFG. file (if you don't already know), read the frequently asked questions at the top of the FS9 forum.

Ok, I managed to load the program (deleted the cfg file). I activated all my addon scenery, loaded the program and tried a flight from KCVG - KTPA...got within approx 150 miles and crashed again, listed the same three errors as indicated above, event 3, event 7, event 6.

I can fly the same route again and will not have any problems, it seems its just hit or miss.

    I just dunno!

    Hi Garry,

Sorry to here Your still having issue's. I think Your getting closer though.

It has to be something to do with Your add-ons -

Best to leave all scenery Un-activated and be sure Not to use any saved flights at first. Start FS9 W/O any add-ons and select the Meiggs C172S default flight. Fly for a while around the Chicago area -

If no issues, again restart FS9 with the default Meiggs flight, and select airports and move the default C172s to the airport and fly the approximate route that has the errors. -

If still no issue's, then begin activating ad-ons just AT Few A TIME, and fly again, until You receive the error. That way You can isolate which add-on is causing the error.

    Randy,
I almost did that. I picked a shorter route, Key West to Tampa. Flew all the way, got clearance to land....crashed (and not the plane!)

Loaded the program again, loaded the same flight to be sure all parameters would be the same. Flew all the way, landed and taxied in, shut down. Perfect flight.

I took off from JFK for a flight to DFW, both original airports with original aircraft. Flew for a while and crashed (I don't know exactly when because was away from the computer for a while).

I'll just keep trying different flights and see what happens.

Thanks for your help so far.

If you are using IE 7 delete the olracc.dll file from the root folder. Also, make sure all "MICROSOFT UPDATES" are loaded.
