Radeon x1650 vs. 7600GS

Both of these are about the same price, which is a better option for flightsim (as that is all I play now days). The Processor speed seems to be much faster on the Radeon...and the ram is the same between them.

Otherwise my system is an Athlon 3000+ (754 unfortunately...I'm going to upgrade to a 3700 if I can find one cheap), 3 gigs of PC3200 ram, 400+gigs SATA HD space, and currently a PNY 5500FX w/ 128mb ram.

The February 2007 issue of Computer Power User magazine reviews a bunch of AGP graphics cards. Based on the numbers in those tests, I'd give the nod to the X1650 over the 7600GS. I would not go with the HIS brand 1650 though as the Sapphire model scored considerably better even though it is lower priced than the HIS model. Newegg also has the Sapphire:

Thanks Noell. The one thing I really liked about the HIS model was the cooling system. I appreciate the input...I'll have to decide between them.

I tried both cards and the 7600GS is by far the better graphics card. I have found nvidia is superior to ati. The 7600gs has 512mb and the card I have can be overclocked. The FSX fps are fantastic, as good as FS9, except in the big cities.
