XP bootup problem - Maxtor HD?

Hi All-

Just recently got my new computer up and running, specs are as follows:

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard nforce4
2GB OCZ Platinum PC3200 RAM
300GB Maxtor 7200RPM Hard Drive
GeForce 7900GTX 512mb
AMD 64 single core 4000+
Windows XP pro.

Ive been booting it up for the last day with no problems, installed FS, drivers, etc. This morning when I started up everything went welll until We arrived at the Windows XP loading screen with the blue moving loading bar. It hangs here with the loading bar moving for hours. I haven't yet gotten past this screen.

Friends of mine say its a conflict with the Maxtor HD and the Nforce 4 chipset?

Any ideas? Thanks guys.

Yes...There is a known problem with the Maxtor HD's...But there should be a fix avaliable...it's a pretty old problem and I thought Maxtor had addressed it and had patches avaliable...Can you check their website?? I'm not at home or I could get you some links...Sorry...

Aha...problem solved.

Thanks for the quick reply - Turned out actually though to be a little 56K phone line splitter PCI i had in there. Dispicable.
