    Default How to change the Identity of a monitor?, Nvidia nView Dual View question for the Gurus Options

    Hello,
    As you see in my config below I run 3 monitors onto 2 video cards.
    To day my monitors have the "identity" 1 and 3 on my GF TI4600 and the "identity" 2 on the GF FX5200.
    Is it possible to change the identity of a monitor and if "yes" how to? Using the Nvidia nView Dual View
    I try to have "identity" 1 and 2 onto the TI4600 and "identity" 3 onto the FX5200.
    This has an impact on the game Flight Simulator FS2004 or FS9.
    Thanks in advance.

    Emile,
    I read something about that in one of the Nvidia pdf manuals that you can download with the drivers, but I'm sorry I don't remember which manual or section.

    I have a single 6800gt with two CRTs attached. The monitor connected to the vga-1 port showed up as monitor-2 in the driver settings and vice versa. For my case, the Nvidia manual said that these numbers are arbitrarily assigned, may conflict with the physical stamping on the card, and you can't change them. So I just swapped the connections at the video card and all was well. The next section in the manual discussed the numbering with two video cards, but I didn't read it because it didn't apply to me. Sorry I couldn't help you, but hopefully you can find your answer in one of the two manuals, there's only about 200 pages between the two of them. LOL.

    By the way, how are those XG 81.98s working for you? Can you run in full screen mode with all those monitors? Have you tried using Squawkbox with your system?

    Hello Ted,
    Yes, I can run in full screen mode with these drivers.

    In fact this is why I did put the question, because in FS9.cfg I ,only, see 2 entries :
    [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -XTreme-G by TRU.0]
    Mode=1600x1200x32
    PanelAsTexture=0
    [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 -XTreme-G by TRU.1]
    Mode=1024x768x32
    PanelAsTexture=0
    TextureAGP=0

    due to that I cannot adjust in FS9 the resolution on the second monitor attached to the TI4600 card and when I go to full screen it uses 1024x768x32 and I want to increase this resolution because I undock my 2d cockpit + radio + GPS to that monitor and sometimes some figures (digits) are unreadable.
    On the FX5200 I have FSNav.

    I'll read the documentation .
    Thanks for help

    Hello,
    I did resove my "problem by addind 1 more display entry in fs9.cfg. Now I have :
    "DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -XTreme-G by TRU.0
    Mode=1600x1200x32
    PanelAsTexture=0

    DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 -XTreme-G by TRU.1
    Mode=1152x864x32
    PanelAsTexture=0
    TextureAGP=0
    DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -XTreme-G by TRU.2
    Mode=1152x864x32
    PanelAsTexture=0
    TextureAGP=0

    But I cannot "see" the 3rd enty in settings/display/hardware.

    Happy that you got it working. Regarding the 3rd entry in display/ harware, all I can think off is to check that you have dualview selected in the Nvidia driver. I only have one video card and when I run in dualview both monitors show in the hardware tab, when I run in clone or span view only one monitor shows up. My understanding is that in the latter two modes the video driver forces the same resolution on both monitors and windows sees them as one monitor.

    Also the information I referred two earlier on the Nvidia identity of the monitors is in the Nvidia driver release notes pdf in the section called "Known Limitations".
