Thread: Video card settings.

  1. Default Video card settings.

I read somewhere in these forums that setting your video card setting (like AA, etc) in the system tray for my ATI card will use less CPU cycles as if I was telling FS9 to do it from within the program. Is there any truth to it? Whats the diff if an already running program (cause thats what that ATI control panel is) is going? I've read in the major gamming mags to just install drivers and let the program do the rest.

Also, I have a 9600 ATI with a AMD 2800 and was going to upgrade to the X700XL. I think frame rate has more to due with video card than CPU cause the CPU requirements don't raise like the video loads do. Any suggestions? I steer away from Nvidia cause they just juice their processor speeds up instead of making more channels and hardware changes unlike ATI.

For best results - turn "AA" off in FS9, turn it on from the control panel to 2x, or 4x...see how it looks and performs. Alter to taste. Also, for better performance, set the control panel settings to "performance" instead of "quality". I have mine on performance, and everything looks great - 2X AA, 4XAF....
