Thread: Am I having a sound related problem here?

Default Am I having a sound related problem here?

Frequently, as I'm in flight, I get a loud sound, kind of an electrial short sound. Hard to describe. Like a very fast jackhammer or something. The sim freezes, computer locks and I must pull the power to reboot. Not sure but many times it appears that I was switching views or going to or from external view. Today, just from 2d while enroute. I have a Creative LiveDrive 5.1
    Anyone with the same problem?

Do you have the latest drivers? Try running a DirectX diagnostic and see what it says.

Did all DirectX tests. No problems found. I tried installing what I found for drivers at Creative. There was no change in version.

While you may think its the sound card (And it very well can be) something is locking up your PC causing the sound to just repeat. Anyways things to try....download/burn/run the memtest86 iso. See if you possibly have bad memory. Next try updating all your drivers. DoMainboard, then video card, then sound card, then anything else (mouse joystick etc) Also check your system temps it may be overheating. Most motherboards have a auto shutdown feature if it gets too hot but yours may be disabled check the bios settigns usually under PC Health & Status
