  1. Default Un-installing-re-installing

    Hi all,

    1) When you uninstall programs & then re-install them at later date, does this cause problems. If i un-installed & re-installed fs9 a couple of times would this be a problem with the sim or does any existing data just get over written.

    2) within the disk clean up for c: within windows xp, should you compress old files? does this have any gain to fs9?

    cheers

    Mike.

    1. Not per say, but be aware that the default uninstall does not delete ALL of the FS files. If you are having a problem with FS, I would suggest manually deleting anything left behind after the uninstall. And yes, BTW, any default files left behind are overwritten by the installer.

    2. Not really. In my experience disk space/defrag etc. only really helps if you have like 64MB of RAM, and FS is using a LOT of Virt. mem. As far as compressing old files, I would reccomend against it unless you are running out of disk space and cannot delete anything, since compressing files actually increases the disk access time (it has to uncompress the files when they are again needed)
