Default Help please! Strange sound problem

    Hi,
I upgraded mu cpu from Pentium IV 2 GHz to 3.2 GHz. Thus I had to change motherboard (now a P4P800-E) and RAM (now 1 Gb). I have a SB Live sound card, an ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128 Mb video card and FS2002.
A strange problem occurs when I shift to the external views (S key): after a couple of seconds after I press S, the engine sound disappears if I use FS default aircraft, and there is no way to have it back. If I use 767 PIC, after pressing S the engine sound is replaced by a tremendous and very loud 'buzz' that needs an immediate speakers volume turn-down. No way to eliminate it, except by quitting FS.
Everything else seems to be working fine, I reracked and tested the sound card several times and no problems are found. I also reinstalled everything, but no solution.
Another problem I have is that when I toggle from FS to Windows, when I go back to FS the scenery is replaced by 'all black' and it takes quite some time of changing views to get it back.
Anyone could illuminate me on how to solve the problem?
Thanks a lot for any input.
    James

not sure if it is the same problem, although it may be as the "live" is an old card from the Win 9X era, same as the card i had a similar problem with; I used to have Santa Cruz soundcard, as my previous "live" card had issues with somw applications under windows XP, the Santa Cruz other than the gameport not working was great under XP, then along came FS9 and when ever i changed the view the sound would stop, the only way to get the sound back was to reboot; i don't have the 767 PIC so i can't comment on that. i also have the problem you have toggleing from full screen to windows.

As there was/is no sign of a patch from MS the only way to cure my soundcard issue was to replace the soundcard with a more modern one, in my case i am fortunate in have a very good onboard sound chip that is lass of a system drain than any addon card.

to get round the other problem i leave the game in full screen mode all the time, if i wish to open/use another window/application i use the "windows" key and the minmises FS9.

If you loaded all the MB drivers, and latest soundcard drivers, try putting the card in another slot.
