Unusual problem, good frame rates but runs in slow motion

I am having quite an unusual problem which I have never experienced on a fsim before.

With fs2004 I am getting very good frame rates at the expense of slow motion display. In other words it may take me over a minute to take-off rather than say 30 secs. If I increase my target frame rate to around 50fps which it achieves the aircraft is so slow it can take around 2 mins to get airborne.

The sim rate is set at normal etc.

The pc is an xp2000+ with 512 ram and nvidia mx440 vid card.

If I load fs2004 onto my older 1300Mhz pc the frame rate is around 8fps but at least it runs in real time although very jerky.

Very strange have tried almost everything....would be interested in any comments. As I say the frame rates are very smooth.

Gary,

By chance did you set the FS2004 into either 1/2 speed or slower mode? It should show in the upper right corner of the screen if you did this. If so, just press the "R" key and the + key until you get rid of the fraction. You can also use these keys to speed up your sim from real time to times 16 with the autopilot on and I think times 64 with it off. To slow down just press the R ey and the - key.

I wish that was the case....thanks anyway. It's really driving me mad. What is very strange is that it runs in real time on my older 1300 MHz pc allbeit with very slow frame rates as you would expect.

Will try another posting and then sling it in the bin, m/soft are no help so will have to back to software that works on all machines like fs2002.

I wouldn't mind if I was using an unusual cpu or videocard, but with fairly standard stuff you would expect it to be tested etc.

Hi All,

Loaded SP1 and problem immediately dissapeared. Now getting realistic fps (30ish) instead of the ficticious 100fps. More importantly the sim speed is now correct and have checked it against other simers.
