Thread: Joystick Throtte Jumping

  1. Default Joystick Throtte Jumping

I am currently running FS9, WIn XP. I am using a WingMan Extreme joystick to do my flightsimming with. Recently I have started having some trouble with the minimum throttle setting(s). For instance, when I start FS the engines are at idle, but if/when i love the throttle setting FWD engines spool up (in 737 for example) to over %50, despute my efforts to recalibrate the joystick slider and FS9, I can't get the throttle setting down to below 50% unless I press <F1> function. I have even tried reinstallying FS9 but to no avail...PLEASE HELP!!!!

The jitter you see is noise from your computer and computer powersupply. I recommend FSUIPC (payware) to eliminate this problem.

I have FSUIPC installed, but I need to register it? If so, what settings, etc do I need to make the throttle function right?
    Thanks!

Read the documentation provided with FSUIPC concerning joysticks.

Thanks a million for the help. I had to do some configuring with it still, but it works GREAT! Saved me 50 bucks for a new controller like everyone else was saying!

Oh gosh, my joystick did that same thing....same brand...same model. After a while my rudder also twitched out. I bought the MS force feedback 2 and its been great for a year now! You can buy em cheaper now if you can still find them in stores.

hello I just installed fs 2004.

fs 2004 goes crazy with my logitek wingman forcefeedback joystick.
even the dessena goes round and round. The joystick works fine with fs 2002.

I tried adjusting the sensitivity but no luck.
The hystick is practically useless in fs2004

I tried two different joysticks and both have the same problem.
    any ideas?

First, find FS9.cfg (read the readme.rtf in the flight simulator 9 folder for your location) and rename it FS9.OLD. Restart FS2004, let it stabilize to the main simulator menu. Select settings, assignments, and see if your joystick is listed. If so, review the joystick assignment and joystick axes. Don't make any changes at this point. Return to the main simulator menu, select create a flight, and fly now (if you want to select your favorite airport, etc., go ahead, otherwise just press fly now for testing purposes). See if the problem still exists.

If not, you can now make changes to the setting assignments and axes.

If the problem still exists, close fs2004, delete the new fs9.cfg, remove your joystick from the computer. Restart fs2004, let it stabilize to the main simulator menu. Follow the instructions above to the assignments page to ensure the joystick is not showing in the joystick windows. Return to the main simulator menu, select create a flight, and fly now (if you want to select your favorite airport, etc., go ahead, otherwise just press fly now for testing purposes). See if the problem still exists.

If not, close close fs2004, plug the joystick into the computer, and let it be recognized. Open control panel, game controllers, and check the joystick functions and ensure they work properly. Restart fs2004 and follow the instructions above to see if the problem recurs. If so, unplug the joystick, delete the new fs9.cfg, look for and install updated drivers for the joystick to see if the problem can be corrected.

    thanks for the help.

I think I am close to solution on this one. The problem was with of course with calibration and for some reason, the standard calibration did a terrible job.

Logitech has a utility called Dxtweak and anothe utility to clear any calibration settings. I used dxtweak for calibration. Unlike the UI based one here I can precisely calibrate teh device based on a range of numbers.

That seems to have fixed the problem.

Thank you all, I really appreciate you guys
