I posted my problem in the wrong forum yesterday but the moderators were nice and didn't chastise me for doing so. I had lost all sound. After poking around doing all I know (which isn't much) plus a few things that were suggested, I finally found the problem. I have a Viewsonic monitor and there are three buttons along the bottom that are for the speakers. One for up volume, one for down, and one for off. The off must have gotten pushed in accidently. Gotta lay off the red wine.
