question on anti-aliasing

hey people, i just purchased a nvidia geforce 440mx last night. and it works great so far with just 256 ram. ive upgrading to bout 768 ina few days but i had a question on this anti aliasing thing. FS9 has it in the game and so does the card itself. what does anti aliaisng do because im gettin like 15-20 fps very easily and i dont want to start messing with features and i lose all. so can anyone lend a helping hand?

The AA on the card is better than the one on FS;) but remember you maybe losing some FPS too:-( but I think is worth it;)
If you turn the AA on the card turn off the AA on MFS. Trust me;)

next question is then the nvidia card has these different settings for AA LIKE 2X 4X AND DIRECT 3D SOMETHIN,which one should i select? and what does AA do if i may ask

AA: Sharpness the image. For example making letters more visible. Taking out the jaggled lines etc. In a low AA setting you might see the jaggled lines of pixels around the aircraft when AA is on it sharpens the whole thing making you see like it is more normal or realistic instead of seeing the pixels

If I were you I wouldn't bother with any AA at all on that card. I used to have a 440mx and with AA turned on I would get only 10 fps and before that I would get around 30fps or more.

Give it a try but I think you'll find performance isn't very good.

yea im gettin nice frames without AA and the graphics still ook fine. i dont really notice a difference in the quality with AA.
do u know any other good PCI CARDS and a website to order from?

PCI cards are always worst and more PRICY than AGP cards:-(
Try getting a mobo with a AGp slot first;)

Exactly...PCI cards are more PRICY and worst (slower etc.) than AGP cards. AGP cards are less pricy and better!

But instead of buying an new PCI card in the future I recommend him to get a barebone of a mobo and a new faster processor for about $120 you could what I got (specs in signature) get a new mobo, processor and a cooler somtimes for that monye is pretty good;)

I tend to agree with Falcon 16 to a point , the reason is that FS2002/2004 tend to be rely more on CPU power then the Graphics card ,so £120 spent on a CPU/MB combo would give better results then a £120 graphics card but the downside is other games that need the graphics card to deliver high FPS wont run as good as if you up dated the Card so its sought of swings and roundabout if you know what i meen .
