  1. Default NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 w/ AGP 8x water effects problem

    System in brief:
    P4 2.6 Asus P4S800
    256Meg ram
    the above mentioned video card w/ updated drivers.

    The problem: I cannot seem to make the water effects work. I am able to drag the slider to max on the water effects, however when I return to the game I don't see any effects, reflection etc. When I return to the setting menu the effects slider has been reduced automatically to low. If I readjust the effects back to max the same thing happens. Now here is where it gets a little weird. I can drag the land and water detail to max and set the water effects to none and get the ripples in the water effect. If I then try to drag the water effects to max it will automatically reduce the land/water detail to medium. If I set the land/water detail back to max, it will automatically reduce the water effects detail back to low. Does that make any sense? By the way, this is a new system and I have tried FS2002 and get exactly the same results. No water effects, but it does not move my sliders around like it does in FS2004. I used to run FS2002 on my laptop P3-750, 192mg, ATI internal video with absolutely no problems with effects.

    Any ideas would be helpful.

    I believe theres is a fix for this problem somewhere within the Flightsim.com file library. Just search for Geforce4 MX440 ... not sure about the exact file name; perhaps someone else can elaborate!

    Default Modified display.cfg to Enable Refelctions on GeForce4 MX Cards

    HI!!!!

    I found it; the file name is...

    gf4mxdsp.zip for FS2002

    and it is true... there are no GeForce 3/4 entries in the FS9 display.cfg file.

    Thanks for that! I just about to ask the question about the location
    of that file..I had to reinstall everything (xp, etc) and forgot
    about that file until I fired up FS9!

    Hi, urloony

    1- It's not possible to get land and water effects full sliders at same time, despite of video card you have;
    2- To get water reflections, you need a video card DX8 compliant.
    The MX cards are not DX8 compliant.
